That was a go-to for us while travelling. Many moons ago. Now there are so many better options. Do you guys have Freshii in the US?
I don't really recall it in Illinois.

Spreading fast here in Canuckistan. It's replaced Subway as my go to now. As a vegetarian, cross country travel can be kind of bare bones, pardon the pun.I don't really recall it in Illinois.
Its without a doubt best to make ones own food, because then you know what the hell is in it
Also a good trick, is to eat raw celery, not the leafs, so just cut them into sticks and wash them and then eat them, they don't taste all that good, but when you get used to them its no problem. The good thing about it, is that eating celery makes your body spend more calories processing them than are in them. So its a natural "loosing" weight vegetable
"Just Say No to Sauces"... especially mayo and salad dressing. But almost all the sauces are ridden with chemicals that will cause all sorts of problems. Not to mention the added calories.fast food or restaurant recommendations for health
I think one have to be realistic here, if people decide to make their own food, because they want to be more healthy and avoid fastfood and then drown everything in a deep fryer and starts to make homemade chocolate and cakes filled with sugar and butter, obviously they would be better off eating at Mc Donalds then. That is why I wrote in the first post, that its the motivation that is the hard part. If people regardless of what they eat, constantly jump in the sugar jar then there is nothing anyone can do, and I honestly wouldn't have any advice for them. I my self is not slim as an eel, im pretty normal, maybe a little overweight, but I don't blame it on anything other than my self, I know I should probably eat slightly fewer peanuts (Dammit I love them ), so once in a while even though I really like them, I think to my self, well maybe Ill get a package tomorrow or something. So its about self discipline. You know, actually I don't agree because that can be a cop out too. I've seen a bunch of folks from My 600 Pound Life Including Penny who could not lose their weight for their obesity surgery because when they went on their diet all they did was quit eating out and started making their own food, Penny deep fried her own wantons and they deep fry stuff eat high fats and carbs and just make it home made. Its not any better then the unhealthy fastfoods.
The real truth is you have to count your calories and or carbs and eat small portions and or fat though some low carb folks can eat high fat meats no matter regardless of weather you eat at home or at restaurants , just making your own food won't do if you not counting calories eating small portions and getting rid of fats and carbs.
I do not consider the high glycemic carb breads and corn products healthy. Dropping the consumption of high salt food, white bread, potatoes, and sugar will go a long to improve health. Another problem is high salt content of fast food restaurants. Rotisorie chicken and other non-fried chicken and fish is an improvement over deep fried and breaded, but still high salt.
I believe rural areas do have health alternatives in regular grocery stores. The appeal of fast food is more lazy convenience than economics. Whole wheat and coarse grain bread products are widely available.
Grilled chicken sandwich with lettuce and tomato, hold the mayo, substitute fries with apple slices, and ice water.
I can't help but notice something.I did eat high fat sausage 2 kinds this week 2 kinds of cheese, bacon, and ground beef.I am going to change my diet back though .I'm going to get low fat sirloin steak which is expensive but worth it. eggs again no bacon just cheese refried beans and I have taco shells. If I eat 2 or 3 healthy breads a day, maybe 2 tacos one serving of refried's and then eat low fat instead of high fat meats and lowfat everything else except cheese I lose better then with high fats, I can lose a lot on low fat meal plans. Its similar to body for life except 3 meals instead of five, 3 small meals and maybe 1 or 2 snacks, sometimes i get sugar free jello pudding with only 11 carbs in it.I eat one a day or one evry other day.
Not always available if you live in a food desert because you don't have anywhere to buy fresh fruits or vegetables, often the only choice you have is convenience stores or fast food joints and if you are going to buy groceries at the local 7/11 there ain't much choice and you are going to pay through the teeth just to get something relatively close to healthy like a can of soupI can't help but notice something.
Nowhere in this did you even mention fresh fruits or green vegetables.
Cutting back on calories is definitely a good thing. But replacing the empty calories with solid nutrition, like oranges and broccoli and brown rice and bananas and spinach and tomatoes.... Etc. has huge health advantages.

Some of you are confusing fast food (QSR) with fast casual. “Healthy options” in fast food is a myth. While they may have “healthier options,” healthy options don’t exist in fast food.
Trust me. I work in the industry. My fast food is free and I rarely eat it.
Ug my 711 and most convenience stores have lowfat lunch meat bread cheese salad and milk and maybe canned chili and canned chicken and tuna. Your wrong and fastfood places have healthy .Not always available if you live in a food desert because you don't have anywhere to buy fresh fruits or vegetables, often the only choice you have is convenience stores or fast food joints and if you are going to buy groceries at the local 7/11 there ain't much choice and you are going to pay through the teeth just to get something relatively close to healthy like a can of soup

But the price? Trying to eat healthy at a 7/11 or fast food restaurant is going to cost more than buy groceries at a supermarket and fixing a healthy meal at home.Ug my 711 and most convenience stores have lowfat lunch meat bread cheese salad and milk and maybe canned chili and canned chicken and tuna. Define healthy food. If its a healthy or low carb low calorie low fat its healthy your wrong.Once folks get focused on the idea of not eating at restaurants they statrt making unhealthy foods at home thinking its safer because its not restaurant. Bottom, line the one and only thing I center on for my food plan is low carb healthy carb low fat and low calories its healthy makes no difference who made it.
I agree for most people it's convenience. I live in a rural area in Australia, our closest supermarket is a 40 minute drive and the fresh fruit and veg there is usually rubbish, they have no competition so we get what won't sell in places where they do have competition. Even with that problem we cook most of our meals, only eat out once a month or less. It takes a bit of work but it is possible, we grow a few vegetables and swap with the neighbours, some of the farms around the area have roadside stalls and once a month there's a farmers market. Some frozen and canned veg are ok when the fresh option is unavailable. Decent fruit is the hardest to come by but I would rather do without it than waste money on the inedible stuff from the supermarket that has been in cold storage for ages. I'm also lucky enough to have a butcher shop and a fisherman's co-op close by.
Of course I can't speak for America, it may be more difficult or even impossible in some places.
Well my scales today say I'm down to 272 which is exactly 70 pounds down from my highest 342. When I get down to 200 you can continue saying that but the real truth is Im happy with my weigh loss and my body right now, so I don't want any advice from you. I've had this weight off the past year and a half, do you know what the percentages of me losing weight is or anyone who is obese? Less then 5 percent and very few make it to where I'm at now. SO I think the scales and the fact speak for themselves. No, Riders. I won’t be spoon feeding common sense for you or anyone else participating ITT. Salt is low carb, low calorie, and low fat. How healthy is a diet fortified with salt?
While I appreciate your intent, finding “healthy” in fast food ain’t gonna happen. Our only job is to sell you what tantalizes your taste buds. We’ll tell you it’s healthy because that what you want to hear. Is it, really? Caveat emptor.
Best to shop and cook for oneself.
