Please look at the faces in the first frame

Are you? Why did he not wipe out poverty completely (or any other social or physical ill) when he had the chance? It's so cute when when others wish to mold Jesus to fit their agenda.

Could you please just study the people in the first frame,
and see if this is really how you want to respond.

I feel bad for them, but isn’t a country allowed to draw the line somewhere? What about American children in Oakland and Detroit and other U.S cities that have the same look of worry on their faces? What about the working poor in Appalachia? Why do we need to admit and take care of non-Americans when there are plenty of people already here we need to take care of?

Could you dtand thrre, blocking the way of that family and say.
"I feel bad for you but."*

* but my proportional shsre of your impact on the country would
be less than a big Mac, true, but I dont feel all that bad.

Or what?

Let me ask you a very simple question.
There are countries and locations where there is a lot of (for lack of a better word) wrongdoings, should the U.S. send our military to those countries and locations to stop what is going on?
I see your concern for the plight of these people but I see it as exactly the same as using our military as the policeman of the world, do you?

Yea, it is written in the Book of Cyril...

How many of the countries we're discussing were destabilised by pursuit of American interests in the first place? Seems a relevant factor.

Also, what is the cost of foreign intervention in both treasure and blood vs. The cost of accepting refugees?

What? Me worry?
Jesus and the Baptist wanted the return of the discarded laws....... definitely the return of the poor-laws. The fat rich religious hypocrites in the priesthood had discarded all in favour of theior own agendas. It was all a bit like today, really.

I think if you'll look past your Sunday School lessons you'll find that JC and JB were more in tuned with what was inside more than what was outside. But whatever gets you through the night, as it were.

ETA. I was supposed to say something, not just
post a vid. Sorry.

Five numbers that explain US border crisis
We cannot have an immigration policy based upon how
cute, innocent or pitiful the masses at the border look.
Certainly, our vaunted neighbor to the north (whose
posters harshly criticize our policies) doesn't do that.

I wonder....
Is Mexico so terrible a country that the would-be immigrants
there must be granted citizenship &/or asylum here?

and are you doing anything to help these people, or do you only remember them when you need an excuse to deny help to others? If America truly was paying to capacity to help her own needy, I doubt many would begrudge you drawing a line. But are you?

I oppose our country's policies being dictated by the millenia
old ravings a Jewish zombie with delusions of godhood.

Yes. I could. Part of being a leader is making the tough decisions. I would hopefully have alternatives for them so it wasn’t merely just a rejection.

Neither you nor I have any reference to the situation in the picture. Although I know this is hard for some folks, but common sense sometimes has to rule over blind emotion. I stand by my statement.

How many of these folks have you invited to live in your basement?

Yet you have no problem supporting the republican platform that attempts to insert the bible at every turn.

Can't have it both ways.

Huh. I thought it was to make the right decisions
Tough is not the same word as wise, good, or just.
The tough part of this would be a strong conscience.

"Hard for some". "Common sense". "Blind emotion".

Your recourse to such words might be something
somewhere telling you that there is no virtue in
the absence of compassion. Just try giving it
a chance. You dont have a heart of stone.

I am not suggesting that. I suggested taking a few
minutes to look at and think about that family.

Allow empathy to run amok for even the briefest
instant..

That phrase is never followed by anything honest or accurate.
Have you no shame for playing this game?
You do support a party that's attempting to insert Jesus everywhere. Can't have it both ways.
Are you pro-life or pro-choice? Only 1 is inspired by jesus.

There's no chance of my empathy gland becoming engorged.
