Something tells me that they still show up at work though.

Ah, I see. In the U.S. "pudding" refers exclusively to a sweet, creamy mousse or custard like dish, often chocolate, vanilla, or butterscotch flavored.
Black pudding is a Lancashire delicacy (well more making use of a waste product to make a cheep meat substitute) but it is nice, and no doubt super intelligent @Revoltingest will object but it is far superior to haggis.
Across the county border in Yorkshire they too have a pudding for use with a main course rather than a desert, called (believe it or not, Yorkshire pudding) which is an unsweetened pancake batter baked in a very hot oven.
