atheism and death

ASPIs,
Heaven without any `gods`....somewhat believable.
satan as an entity... not even a proper word...and somewhat laughable !
But hey ASPIs....the first part of your post is a part of life's truth.
But.... you left off the part about `spirit`, that what goes on after death.
That part of life that goes beyond death, and becomes new Stuff.
Maybe into the `new kingdom` ?
Will we ever know ?

The soul and spirit does have the capacity of eternity, and it is what is given to the believers during the resurrection (according to my belief). However, the spirit also have the capacity to die and disappear, which is the natural result of unbelief and hopelessness. Afterall, what is the point of afterlife for people who never prepare for it or desire it? Floating around in the cosmos without any purpose?

But obviously all of these are just what my belief tells me. If your own belief makes you more comfortable with the eventuality of death, then don't let me invalidate it.

hey ASPIs,
"Floating around"..could be, I guess.
I like to think of it like becoming part of the Stuff of New Life.
Becoming other lives and furthering the cause of the Cosmos' reality.
Maybe someone is floating around inside of yourself, you think ? Maybe not !
Maybe you are alone with your `God` and `His` angels, say hello to Jesus, will you ?

Well, the Bible never really says anything about "immortal soul" floating off to heaven or hell. Therefore, what most unbelievers think is actually true : when they die, they just die. They return to dust, their thoughts perishes/dissipates, returns to nothing, just like any other animals. There is no torture or pitchforks - death itself is the punishment.

Hell is reserved just for satan and his kind, while heaven is basically the believers being resurrected at end times to get in the "new kingdom".

Well, you don't know the Bible very well
Hell is not only reserved for Satan and his angels, but also for those who follow the ways of Satan.

Revelation 20:14-15---
14 "And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death"

15 "And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire"

Now the question is, Who is death, what is death name ?

I'm not sure that a passage that describes death as a person who can (paradoxically) die is coherent enough to tell.

Frankly, most of Revelation comes across as mental illness or a drug trip.

You say that, only because you have no knowledge or understanding what the book of Revelation is about.

As you have no understanding who Death is either.

Now that's something I kind of wondered about. If death and Hell is thrown into the lake of fire then what exactly is death and hell?

It's not, ( what exactly is death and hell ?)

But who is Death ?
As for hell, Hell is a place of non-existent.
To be cast into hell, is to be cast into
non-existent, as though you never, ever existed before.
This is why Christ Jesus said, "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell"
Matthew 10:28.

Hell is nothing more than a place of
non-existent. Once a person is cast into hell they become non-existent as they have never, ever existed before and then hell and the person are cast into the Lake of Fire to finish both of them off.
To never exist again.

I have as little interest in understanding who “Death” is in Revelation as in understanding the meaning of anyone else’s hallucination.

The Death that is being talk about in the book of Revelation, Is not death as in a person dieing as in death.

The Death that is being talk about in the book of Revelation, is just another name for Satan.
For Satan is Death.
For Satan comes to give people death and destruction.
Christ Jesus comes to give people Life and Peace.
This is why Christ Jesus is also called the Prince of Life and Peace.
And Satan is called death and destruction.
For Satan is Death.

Ah - so once God felt that Satan had done enough death and destruction, he had Satan killed?

Doesn’t seem very charitable.

Nope not at all, God gave Satan enough time to turn away from his wicked way.
But as it is Satan chosen to stay in his wickedness. Therefore Satan brought his own destruction upon himself.
The same with people, God gives each and everyone the choice to follow that which is right, but as it is, alot of people choses to stay in their wickedness.
So they bring their own destruction upon themselves.

But God's death toll in The Bible is far greater than Satan; surely it should be God apologising to Satan.

If satan is dead, why is there so much evil all around us.
And.....why did `god` create it in first case ?
Silliness...just pure silliness !

The question is, Who exactly caused the death toll in the Bible ?
Who was it, that lead a third of the angels in heaven in rebellion against God ?
Who is it that leads mankind in their rebellion against God ?
Why Satan of course, then Satan's death toll is far greater.

For every sin and wickedness, Satan is right there behind it.
So the death toll in the Bible can be and will be at the hands of Satan's.

Who was it caused the great flood - the one Noah survived?
