This seems a fairly rational place, unlike a few religious forums I have seen, so I'd like to give it a whiz.

I am treading what I suspect may be a common but seldom acknowledged path, in admitting to being brought up Christian - and still attending mass each week - while having almost no faith in the literal truth of the doctrine, but still regarding the church, its aspirations, its traditions and its cultural influence with enormous affection and respect.

I like what I have seen of the science threads here and may have a go at joining in a few of them .

Ah I see. I'm afraid I have no idea how to read these characters. I did learn once how to read modern Arabic script, though I've forgotten most of it now.
