The allure of Trump

Can anyone explain it? I, as well as many others I know, truly can't fathom how the man has the numbers he does. He panders to bigots, he argues like a fourth grader calling names on the schoolyard, he's crude to women, his ego is out of control. Just why do people think he is actually fit to run this country?

Considering what Trump is saying, along with Ben Carson, what does it say about their supporters?

It's frikkin' insane is what it is.

Plus the whole Republican race has been a Creepy Clown Acid Nightmare anyway.

I was hoping, praying that Boehner would run - I hate his politics, but he ould be taken seriously, at least.

Oh, do we have someone who can actually logically explain the allure Trump has for them? Please, do tell. Or is all you have cheap retorts from the schoolyard, much like Trump?

Easy. Anyone with hair like that gets my vote.

He is neither a Bush, nor a Clinton...and many people have just had enough of the same-old-same-old being presented by both parties. He's saying something different, and getting opposition from both sides, and I think that is appealing to a lot of people.

Like it or not, it is clear that Trump has found a niche largely ignored by politicians nationally.

He ran before and tried to reign himself in and never made it out of single digits. It's a sad commentary on the Republican party but, this time around, he has become what a large percentage of them want.

It's hard not to feel vindicated when looking at him. I can't tell you how many times I have voiced the opinion that a large percentage of the right is composed of loons and been told I was out of my mind, just being the normally biased lefty.

By referring to your self as a misogynist in a context about trump you are really hurting your image. I don't think there is much of an argument that trump isn't incredibly sexist/racist.
I find the glib extreme claims about him to be unsupported.
They remind me of rabble rousing slogans like the Pubs' "war on women" & "Obama is a Muslim!".
Sure, sure....such things have a basis in fact, but are not factual after morphing into rallying slogans.

Besides, my image couldn't be any worse than it is.
When appropriate, I regularly stick up for people I dislike.
I haven't defended Hitler yet.....but give me time.

I think it's because people are so sick of the politcal correctness environment, and Trump refuses to watch what he says. It's refreshing when someone will toss off the polite act and come out and tell people to get bent.

I find it as obnoxious as everyone else, but a part of me is like 'yeah you tell 'em you crazy SOB'

Trump is not polling any better, if not slightly worse, than Bernie Sanders, something to think about.

Carson has shot by Trump in a new poll of likely Republican voters in Iowa.

I don't know how I feel about bernie, on one hand he's the only one who can make considerable good change, but he misrepresents socialism.
"Socialism" is very hard to define since there's so many variations of it. The kind of "socialism" Bernie has pushed is what we more see in the Scandinavian countries, whereas there's a mixture of socialism and capitalism with more emphasis on the former when compared to the U.S.

I like Carson actually.
I like him too.
I just wouldn't voter for him.

What's more puzzling....what is the allure of Hillary?
Few seem to like her.
She has the charisma of stale haggis.
Yet she's strong in the polls.
Is it just that she's the presumed next in line?
Is it that many think it's a female's turn?

"Socialism" is an economic system whereas "democracy" is a political system. Therefore, "socialism" can be mixed with different political systems. Unfortunately, when some hear the word "socialism", they immediately connect that with "Marxism" or "Communism", but these terms are not synonymous.

I think, when it comes to Hillary, people look at her experience in government, and her composure under pressure. I have to admit she is quite cool and composed under pressure. It makes her appear quite presidential. Like, no matter what comes her way she can face it and deal with it head on while maintaining her control. She is well spoken and informed yet quite friendly. People like that.
