I did crush on a girl in a local theater production of the fantastiks, but I met her in person. I have never crushed on anybody on TV or film. Film and TV don't activate my crush ganglia. I feel the distance. I feel the intangibility. It doesn't connect. I might be curious or find someone interesting but no crush, no adrenaline, nada.

Not corny at all. I had a crush on her as well. In fact, she may have been my first crush.
I had crushes on several celebrities (Catherine Deneuve, for example) but my first was probably a girl in my class at primary school, who seemingly then didn't know much about me even though she was friends with my best friend. She's certainly a celebrity now - being top of the search results by name - but not having an especially notable career. She was very beautiful, and intelligent, even then, but seemingly has gone a bit right-wing - so she's of course off my Christmas card list.
