Consider that even though atheism isn't a religion by strict dictionary
definition, it nonetheless functions like one in some respects:
1) It is a view about the supernatural.
2) It is a counterpart (evil twin?) of religion.
3) It receives legal protection (in Americastan) on par with religion.
A person who doesn't know is an agnostic a person who doesn't believe is an atheist. An agnostic can perfectly well be a theist who doesn't know but believes. An agnostic is not automatically an atheist as well.

No. It's just an absence of belief in gods. Theism is a belief in the existence of one or more gods. Theism doesn't have scripture or a doctrine or clergy or ethic or anything sacred either. For that you have to build some religion around the god belief.

No it isn't. Everybody is an atheist until they become a theist. (atheist literally means 'not theist') The counterpart of religion is irreligion. Some atheists and theists are irreligious.

No. Atheism is just a single positi8n - the absence of a belief in god.
Atheists can have scripture, clergy, doctrine etc - anything you can imagine, itis just not a facet of atheism.
