White Kitty Died Last Nite

BSM1

What? Me worry?
Oh, I know they have other haunts.
But I provide amenities out so that they'll come to entertain me.

Btw, -10F is objectively "cold".

Having lived nine blocks from Lake Erie, I hear ya. But around these parts they don't even sell thermometers that go below 30F....

Lake Erie keeps things warm until it freezes over.
Then all heck breaks loose.

There are tabby kittens down by Mr Green Barn with Calico Kitty.
Are they hers? They look about 6 to 8 weeks old to me.
Cool! All I have right now is a possom and a CPL of rats, and that's only because I don't throw my garbage away as often as I should.

For the past several years, White Kitty would stop by the house to give us severed
chipmunk heads, mousie guts, & rabbit feet. In return, I set out food & water (which
she graciously shared with possums, Black Skkunk, White Skunk & the racoons).
Sometimes, in her infinite magnanimity, would allow me to brush her fur.
But this morning we discovered her in front of our compound in the middle of the
road...skull & body crushed...intestine snaking down the road. At least she died
instantly...no suffering. So I scooped her up, set her in a snow bank (no room in
the fridge), & will bury her later today.
RIP, White KItty.
RIP.
Aw man!. Sorry for you loss.

Haven't seen many possums lately. We are, however, overrun with bunnies and raccoons. I've been pinging the adult raccoons with BBs, but I just can't bring myself to shoot the young'uns...they're just so darn CUTE!!!

But by fall, I'll pinging them as well. By then, the bobcats and coyotes should start picking them off, as well...

A possum used to come into our carport to eat the cat food. My mother told us all to leave it alone. It was there to greet her when she came home late at night.

Our 15 year old dachshund, Belle, died last night. We knew it was coming. She wouldn't eat the last couple of days. We even tried puppy formula.

But still.

She was a good doggy. We've had her since she was weaned.

My partner Doug is a blubbering mess.

Last nite, Tabby Kitty died.
Calico Kitty had 3 tabby kittens.
One was more the loner, & remained on the property after
mom & the others had moved to Thor knows where.
I think the tenants were planning to adopt it, & were feeding
it canned cat food. It visited us for dry food last nite.

Alas, this morning I found it by a large rock in the yard near
the house. No sign of injury, but some discolored fur on a
hind leg. Tenants were unhappy, & preferred that I handle
burial. Tabby Kitty liked to sneak into the hostas, so I buried
it among some.
RIP, Tabby Kitty.
