What advice do the Christians have for me? I can't be saved. I can't believe. I know it with all of my heart. It is who I am. Is it my failing or Gods?

Whoa. Please don't judge yourself like that. If you are really that serious about Christianity, please hurry. The end is near, as I'm sure you've heard before.

Secondly, God created the scale to which you are comparing your status, either accomplished for failed, and because He created it, He isn't subject to it.

We as Christians get our advice from God. What advice are you looking for?

Sounds like I take Christianity more seriously than you....the advice I'm looking for is simple: If I asked God for guidance and discovered that God wasn't real, what next?

You must feel very lucky to have found him, but isn't it your duty as a Christian to try and help me? I didn't decide that God wasn't real, I discovered it. How can I now find God? Simply, BELIEVE? Impossible. What hope is there for me?

Begin by believing in yourself, for you are fearfully and wonderfully made! Begin by loving yourself. Then begin to love others. See where that love takes you. Begin by doing the things Jesus said to do, being kind and loving and accepting of others.

God is love -- unconditional love. Belief in God does not have to be formulaic, or legalistic. Your idea of who God is does not have to be the same as mine, or anyone else's. Search for God within the love you feel for others. God is there!

Edit: I believe that you are already saved, just because God loves you so much. That's the good news.

If you want a 100% assurance that you will be saved, listen to Sojourner. If you're willing to go with a 99.9999% assurance, listen to me. :D No Christian can possibly speak for God, Ormiston. Leave it in His hands, and believe that He loves you.

Yes it is my job to help you, that's why I asked what advice you needed.

    Now, a few questions:
    1. What made you believe there was a God?
    2. What made you change your mind?
    3. Why the second thoughts (again)?

    Another point...

Everything we (theists, non-theists, and atheists) believe is faith. We weren't there when the universe was made/evolved/etc. So we use evidence as to point us to a direction, and we put our faith on that evidence.

There are no solid facts that support evolution or creation. It all depends on how we perceive the "facts" presented to us.

Faith. It's believing in someone that you can't see...can't necessarily feel and it is scary at first.

But if you close your eyes...pray for spiritual guidance...when you call out to Him...he WILL answer.

Get into the Word of God. Pray before you read. Truly open your heart. And if you approach God with a sincere heart and let it all go...if you believe that Christ died for your sins so that you CAN be saved...the Holy Spirit is going to fall upon you and the doubt and fear that you have is going to dissipate.

I'll pray for you. Get into the gospels of the Bible. Turn on some good Christian music. Surround yourself with things that are positive and just let it seep in. Conviction will come and if you grasp onto your conviction...let go of the baggage you're carrying and just give it all to Christ...He's going to do the rest.

Feel free to PM me anytime if you have any questions concerns. My journey to the cross was such a long and painful one. I'm here to tell you that it wasn't too long ago that I believed that I couldn't be saved and here I am.

It's hard to let go of what you're holding onto. It's hard to take that first jump into the unknown. With Jesus...ANYTHING is possible. And it's okay to take Baby Steps. Just get into His Word and call to Him with a sincere heart.

First of all, the fact that you're concerned with your salvation and that you're still seeking God after you "discovered" that he isn't real, tells me that although you've "discovered" that God isn't real, you don't really believe it. For if you did, you'd cease trying to chase something that you know doesn't exsist.

I don't know if you've ever heard of this quote but it goes like this: "The Devil's greatest trick is making the world believe he doesn't exsist." Without the Devil there would be no God. You can't have good without evil. You can't have the "yin" without the "yang".

How does this apply to your situation? Well if the Devil doesn't want you to know that he exsists, he CERTAINLEY doesn't want you to know that God exsists.......and that's the path the Satan wants you to take. A road without God. There are 2 sides fighting for you and neither one of them is going to give up on you no matter whose path you take. The world is Satan's playground.

No one can make you believe in God. Remember that we don't find God, GOD FINDS US. KEEP SEEKING HIM and he will reveal himself to you. That I promise. The best advice I can give to you right now is to 1) Keep on praying to God for guidance. Even if you believe you're just talking to the ceiling, KEEP DOING IT! 2) Stay in the word of God. Keep a Bible handy and read from it each day. Make God apart of your life everyday.

This may seem silly to you at first, but it will work. Trust me. The more Godly your life is, the more easier it is for him to reveal himself to you. It may not happen overnight, but it will happen one day. I guarantee.

    God Bless.

    Nick

Ask: How can I know God?
    Read: 1 John 4.
Ask: What is love? (besides 1 John 4:8)
    Read: 1 Corinthians 13
Ask: How can I use these?
Read: Galatians 5:22-23 (Read the rest of the chapter as well)
Ask: What is the source of these spiritual fruits?
Read: John 15:1-17(or the whole book)

    Equations
God = Love (Love = God)

Love = Patient; Kind; Not Envious; Not Boastful; Not Arrogant; Bearful of All Things; Believing of All Things; Hopeful of All Things; Enduring of All Things

Fruit of the Spirit = Love; Joy; Peace; Patience; Kindness; Goodness; Faithfulness; Gentleness; Self-Control

Source of Fruit of the Spirit = Christ

    -------------

    Call upon the LORD.

2 Samuel 22:4 and Psalm 18:3 - I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies.

Psalm 145:18 - The LORD is near to all who call upon Him,To all who call upon Him in truth.

Humble yourself in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up. (James 4:10)

    ------------------------

All in all, do unto others as you would be done by.

And now what if "God" really sounds rediculous? I have about the same feeling here. I want to go to heaven if there is one (I heard something about virgins? :jam: ), but the idea just sounds too strange.

It is as if I would tell you that God does not exist, I know that sounds strange to you, but in real life there is a normal explaination to it all. Your thoughts are actually wrong. You just hold an encyclopedia with you all day long and read it a lot and you'll find out there is no God. You will get the feeling that all what you thought before was a big lie.
Now doesn't that feel impossible to you?

And spookboy, if one does not believe in God, throwing with quotes from (in our view) humanly written books only makes it worse.. Well for me it does..

The fact that you visit this web site and asking questions may indicate that God is leading you, but maybe the answer you seek cannot be found in the Bible.

if you are not religious, i would question why it must be the "christian" version of death and the after life you would like answers from.

"Draw close to God, and he will draw close to you."—JAMES 4:8

This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God,(Jehovah) and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ John17;3 i have added the name of God here as the bible tells us in the KJV that his name is Jehovah at ( psalm 83;18 )and this verse in John 17;3 tells us to take in knowledge of him and of Jesus christ

    Hi Ormiston,

    Interesting, how so?

There are some real questions you can ask yourself regarding what you believe.

Do you belive their is a Creator to this Universe, our earth, life?
Or do you believe all Matter/energy came into existance from nothing, formed itself into planets, chemicals just formed the way they have, amino acids just formed and then also arranged themselves into proteins, proteins then arranged themselves into a specific order that allowed a simple cell to form and replicate itself, and then random mutations formed every complex biological system that exists while natural selection deleted ones that didnt work, all the way until eventually you arrived on the planet with a brain capable of reason and the ability to consciously comprehend your own existance and the world around you?

Do you believe Christ was crucified? Historically etc this is established.

Do you believe the gospels teach what he taugh and record what he did? If not why not? Do you believe the apostles just made it all up and were still willing to die for it?

Why do you believe Christ let himself be crucified?

    Cheers
    Steve

Because Christianity is the only religion that has any relevance in my life. The majority of people around me are Christians and I'm an ex-born again Christian myself.
