What are you doing when you want to relax these days?

What are you avoiding in the same circumstances?

Me, I've gotten into popular music out of (mostly) Hong Kong. It started over a year ago, and has gradually come to dominate my person playlist, although I still listen to other kinds from various and sundry places around the world, including three totally local groups.

I'm clueless about the meaning of the lyrics of the Chinese music, but it doesn't seem to make that much of a difference. Yet, a curious thing happened about a year ago. I grew fond of one song in particular by Lowell Lo. Working on and off over about three months, I wrote a poem loosely inspired by it.

Well, at least I thought it was 'loosely'. Turns out when I got curious enough to look up a translation of the lyrics, the poem was not only on nearly the same theme as the song, but also used some of the same imagery as the song.

Make of that what you will, if anything.

    Here's a hometown band...

What kind of art, Chief? I myself am something of an internationally recognized connoisseur of high-quality Balinese fishnet donkey porn, though it was not easy, the climb up the ladder to where I am at today.

Seriously, what forms and mediums do you enjoy?

Seriously... me? OK, when I'm not creating donkey porn, I'm interested in non-representational art, and use an app called Art Set. I'd like a bigger device but that costs too much. (My avatar is a detail from one piece)

Walks in the park or by the lake, playing Skyrim, watching Sadhguru videos, Vedanta Society videos, and old NASCAR races (Smiff TV has become one of my favorite YouTube channels) on YouTube, and reading.

Nothing I'm actively trying to avoid. My life has become quite peaceful.

    Relax??? What does that mean???

Joking aside, I'm at the stage (winter helps) where i lounge on the sofa using Paul as a pillow, a log fire burning in the stove is all i need for an hour a day.

Or weather permitting a walk in the forest, find a handy fallen tree and absorb the sounds of life.

Or visit the outhouse and have fun cutting logs with my trusty chain saw.

I won't be avoiding anything, it's me to ensure everything that needs doing is done before i unwind.

Oh yes and as at this moment, again lounging on the couch for a few minutes after lunch while RFing

Don't need much to relax, apart from the occasional (daily) glass of wine. Looking at the weeds growing in my garden tends to do so.

I've been heavily into tabletop wargames for most of my life. I haven't actually been able to play for the last year but I still do plenty of building and painting. I generally put a series on in the background (I've been powering my way through Archer lately) while I paint.

At the moment? Leaving the house. I live in an area that actually gets busier during lockdown due to tourists treating the whole thing as a holiday. It's pretty ridiculous.

Also for anybody who's interested, I've included some pictures of my painting below:

I've taken up doing photography in open-world computer game Skyrim. And some of the pictures are better than I expected for a video game.

I had you down as doing something art-based; with or without a chainsaw.
