Sending money to Ukraine has probably been a net plus for us. They have hobbled the Soviet Union. They cannot afford to menace more than one country at a time currently. For a fraction of what we pay for our own defense our largest military rival has been effectively neutered for years.

You are once again not paying attention to the claims. Other countries are at risk if Ukraine falls. What you would allow is for one after another to fall. Russia cannot currently engage two countries at once because we are sending money to Ukraine. You are willing to create a problem that would be far more expensive to fix. Getting Russia out of a country once they defeat it is far more expensive than keeping them from taking it over from them in the first place.

Come on! They've already proven that they can't take over even one country even when they were fully staffed and equipped. They've done all they can and have taken massive losses. With whatever they still have left, do you really think they could find another country to invade that is fully equipped and staffed?
Before they even made such an attempt, Russia would have to stop what they're currently doing, call their military home from Ukraine, and do an awful lot of rebuilding of their military before making an attempt on another country.
Also, any country that neighbors Russia should be beefing up their military right now to further reduce any possibility of a Russian invasion. It would make them self-sufficient as opposed to just waiting on the USA to do everything.

You forgot why they cannot take over one country. This is how you shoot yourself in the foot. Ukraine is not tiny. Other countries in Russia's sights are rather small. If the US and other countries did not send aid to Ukraine it would have been over long ago. How could Estonia "beef themselves up"? You act as if countries were individual people at times.

Why not just reinforce the countries that think they might get invaded? Those countries could give their own people jobs by doing that, and we could even send American troops there to help if needed since they're NATO countries (assuming those countries requested that).

At the very least, it would be successful. Hundreds of billions already sent to Ukraine hasn't stopped Russia yet. Throwing more money at them isn't going to change that.
