Trump administration launches global effort to end criminalization of homosexuality
BERLIN — The Trump administration is launching a global campaign to end the criminalization of homosexuality in dozens of nations where it's still illegal to be gay, U.S. officials tell NBC News, a bid aimed in part at denouncing Iran over its human rights record.

U.S. Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell, the highest-profile openly gay person in the Trump administration, is leading the effort, which kicks off Tuesday evening in Berlin. The U.S. embassy is flying in LGBT activists from across Europe for a strategy dinner to plan to push for decriminalization in places that still outlaw homosexuality — mostly concentrated in the Middle East, Africa and the Caribbean.

“It is concerning that, in the 21st century, some 70 countries continue to have laws that criminalize LGBTI status or conduct,” said a U.S. official involved in organizing the event.

Maybe he is feeling guilty for tossing transgendered folks in the military under the bus to get evangelical support for his wall.

This is the administration that defined trans people out of existence.
This is also the administration that has a base made mostly out of evangelical Christians, who're pretty anti-gay. Still, it's not often you hear good news about the Trump administration.
I'm hopeful, but not too hopeful.

I don't think those 2 policies are related.
Plus, I don't see Trump as one motivated
by guilt or shame over anything he's done.

Hah!
I forced you to say something positive about a Trump policy!
Of course, this is to your credit. But I still get to chortle.

What we don't hear is gays waging war on everyone else.
It's not a fashionable way of thinking.
In Australia in 2018 the gay lobby went after a corporation
which had a Christian on its board who belonged to a
church opposed to homosexuality.
In 2018 Tasmanian gays went after the Catholic archbishop
for a leaflet he had printed outlining the bible's POV on gays.
It was termed "hate speech" but lots of thinking people
wondered who was doing the hating.

With the gay lobby, like lots of other social activist groups
(polygamists are next) if you don't agree then you are
supposed to roll over and die. You are racist, homophobic,
sexist, transphobic - and next polygamphobic and even
pederastphobic. You will be shouted down, your books
burned, you will be fined or go to jail, you will even be told
what terms you use to describe people.

Also, this to me is a totally key part of the equation: The administration is responding in part to a reported hanging of a young gay man in Iran, Trump’s top geopolitical foe.

In other words: Iran, Saudi Arabia's foe.

Then let some good come from Trump's hatred.

Exactly. You know why? Because it's not happening.

Funny, I gave just two examples of it
both the corporate world and the Catholic Church under attack.

In Australia in the 1980's the gay community promised that if
homosexuality was decriminalized they would not seek to
promote their sexual proclivities in our schools. A year later
they began doing that.
In 2018 during a vote on gay marriage, the gay community
stressed this vote would not endanger religious rights. A
year later the first attack on religious rights began.

I am still allowed to write this. In the future I won't be. And
in a way, this attack upon me is worse than getting my kids
to learn how to sodomize.

Promote their sexual proclivities?

Is it ok for the Catholic church to attack gays, then?
Also, how exactly are their "sexual proclivities" into Australian schools?
Also also, why do religious rights trump the rights of gay people?
Also also also, are religious rights really being endangered?
What rights specifically?
