Only as extreme and bizarre as you?
Is my diplomacy showing?

From personal experience, both in myself and observing others, having an excess amount of humanity is beneficial to no one. It lowers productivity, causes depression, undermines consistency, and causes personality to proliferate instead of ideology.
I wouldn't bring that up on a date if I were you.....unless there's no other way to get her to leave in the morning.

Oh, so you were just trying to complement me. Ok, then :D.

Me, on a date? A year or so ago I would have believed you, but the idea seems patently absurd by this point. No one will ever love me for my personality or my ideology, so I may as well focus on the one that makes sense.

I recognize that we are both on the fringes politically.

You're young.
There is hope.

I hardly ever trust the will of the American people. Case in point, a majority of Americans support allowing gays and lesbians to serve in the military, but not homosexuals.

Did you perhaps leave something out of your above statement?

I find it astonishing how so many of you assume selfishness is the only possible motive anyone could have for social activism. Says more about you than the protesters, frankly.

Projection. The next best thing to being there.

This administrations plan to throw everyone off the scent with class warfare seems to be working so far.
For someone who's all about class warfare, Obama didn't say much about the striking Wisconsin state employees. And did I miss where he lifted a finger when Congress gutted the National Labor Relations Board?

Class warfare, sure.

I'll say! I actually work 7 days a week right now at 4 different jobs (5 if you include book-keeping for my partner's app development business, 6 if you count helping my 92 year old grandma maintain her big house and garden). I also think that my taxes should pay for services that benefit society as a whole. I'm happy to pay for education, health care, libraries, infrastructure, fire and police services, parks, social housing, environmental regulation and enforcement and green technology research. I DON'T think my taxes should make their way - through corporate welfare, cronyism, corruption and graft - into the pockets of billionaires. Ever. Not one dime of the money I work so hard to earn should EVER help to enrich the already ridiculously rich CEO of a bank. I support the Wall Street Protests, and AMAZINGLY, there's nothing in it for me, except the hope that maybe the world I leave my future children and grandchildren will not be some kind of horrific, polluted, Dickensian hell.

A horrific, polluted Dickensian hell is what we're headed for unless something is done, methinks.

I am lazy to find the link to the study. CBS and the NY Times conducted poll and found that a majority of people support "gays and lesbians" serving openly in the military, but only a minority support "homosexuals" serving openly. The point we take away from this is that the American public disagrees with itself on the exact same issue if it worded different. Thus, the American public is fickle and a terrible basis for making anything less than broad public policies.

Et voila.

Support for Gays in the Military Depends on the Question - Political Hotsheet - CBS News

I'd be more generous though - Americans are so overwhelmingly inundated with conservative propaganda they have developed a Pavlovian revulsion for certain terms and phrases while maintaining the ability to consider the exact same concepts rationally when other words and phrases are used to describe them. Socialists? "EVIL! UNAMERICAN! STRING THEM ALL UP!" Social democrats? "IDK what you mean - please explain [explanation] Gosh, that sounds like a great idea!"

Some sacrifices must be made to hide the facts until the re-election bid. Like I said, subterfuge to throw off the scent. His first run was based on it and he's arrogant enough to believe he can just do it again.

So... he's successfully hiding his agenda by not carrying out his agenda?
