Most Over-Rated Bands

A lot. The reviews even more so than the band. People who think this band are special honestly must be on more drugs than the band themselves. The band used to be ok but the more people rave about them the more i hate them.
You say "a lot", yet you only make comments about the people who review or talk about the band.

No offense, but when I was 16, I thought I listened to "underground" music and didn't like it when the "common top 40" people listened to my music. The more people liked my "underground" music the more mainstream I thought it was and left it behind.

I surelly hope you don't mean this in this 16 year old, 'underground is cool, mainstream sux' kinda way :D:rolleyes:

my thoughts exactly, obscurity dosent equate to good music, just because more than 5 people like a single band dosent mean that band is bad

Ok well specifics. They play quite a few songs out of step, Schism they play at 6.5/8, but why? Playing out of sync doesn't make you better. I don't hate them because they're popular, i hate them because they've made metal psychedelic. Like i aid before, another reason is theyre technical for the sake of being technical. It interupts to smoothness in their songs. Its like the new metalcore scene in heavy metal where they put finger tapping solos into random bars. Its as though they've accidentally copy+pasted it somehwere. I bet tool we psyched the first time they played out of sync and thought they'd be "outside the box" for doing it.

People who rave about the band just compound my hatred. I love Lacuna Coil, theyre about the most popular heavy metal band out there these days.

like i said, theres no reason to argue about this, if you dont like it, then you dont, its your opinion. i like them alot, both opinions have equal value, and lacuna coil is ok when that craptastic guy singer isnt singing, he really is AWEFUL, the girl is good tho

I apologise, i didn't want to get into specifics too soon or i might confuse. Funnily enough one of tool's major influences was Pink Floyd who also played a few songs out of step. So they're not even that original. Pink Floyd was also Psychodelic, so all Tool have done is make it a bit heavier. My one admission is a like to play their riffs from their thrash metal album. After that album, they died as a credible metal band to those who still live in the days of thrash  Perhaps theats why i hate them so much, because another potential thrash band died. God i miss old metallica and sodom.

OMG Cletic Frost is the sex. I could listen to circle of the tyrants all day and still love the song. You know they're almost thrash right, same with slayer. I saw Lamb of God 2 months ago, they go right on the list over most over-rated bands of all time.

i have to get in a "mood" to listen to them, i prefer Celtic Frost over all the others tho (except Tool which is my fav:p) im mostly a mellow kind of guy, so im more inclined to more mellow metal (oxymoron?)

I used to think Metalica was over rated but I have come to understand that the new Metalica CD is still a great CD. No it's no Master of Puppets but still good.

To me music is all relative and subjective.

James learnt how to tune a guitar again and Lars finally bought some new symbols :)

The new album is great, they've recaptured the intensity we know and love :)
