Most Over-Rated Bands

Mathematician

Reason, and reason again
My list:

- Led Zeppelin: Unlike other posters who listed LZ, I love Pink Floyd. Stairway is a great song, but that's about it. Their other stuff just doesn't spike an interest.
- U2
- Green Day: More specifically, American Idiot and onwards. I like Dookie.
- Even though they're not exactly iconic, "My Chemical Romance" and "Hoobastank" should have never raped my ears - so I'll list them here.
- Nickelback: Disgusting
- Metallica
- 311

Most under appreciated:

- Dream Theater :p

Dream Theatre are one of those bands who think the more technical they are, the better they are. If they found a decent vocalist i might be more inclined to listen to them. It is my opinion that their music does not suit their vocal style.

I swear im not just saying this because they raped fear of the dark by Iron Maiden.

Dream Theater is one of the worst live shows I've ever seen, and I've seen them three times. Mike's penis compensating drum kit is so huge you can't hear anything else. I was a huge fan but haven't bought anything since Train of Thought. They're just played out IMHO.

Frost from Satyricon and Dave Lombardo from Slayer are the best, they have big kits, but not too big. Their drumming goes with the music. Dreamtheater is ego wanking, they're all so good and they like to prove it, all of it, within 1 song and all at the same time lol.

I saw King's X open for Dream Theater and their drummer had this tiny single bass kit that looked like it came straight from the garage but their drummer wailed on them so good he impressed me more than Mike did.

As unimpressed as I am with newer Dream Theater I like a lot of the side stuff they do like Liquid Tension Experiment, Platypus, Patrucie's solo CD, ect.

I'm more into the darker progressive stuff now like Opeth.

The Beatles.

I remember having to sing Yellow Submarine in class assemblies and just thinking, "What the Hell is this bleep?"

I really don't like LZ very much, but I don't think they were overrated by any means. Jimmy Page was considered a great guitarist in his time.
As for the Beatles, every song they had like Yellow Submarine, they also had songs like Eleanor Rigby, Here Comes The Sun, and Come Together. (one from each, Paul, George, and John in that order).

Definitely one of the Top 10 CDs in my collection. And I'm a 40 year old cracker. LOL!
