In trying to scare certain groups into not saying what they honestly believe, usually as a religious position. Not being able to say you don't support SSM is being cowed by the left, which is where SSM support comes from. It's a traditionally left-wing position. Each student should be able to freely voice his views and hushing certain views is partisan, which is what you apparently want to do.
I'm legally allowed to hold this position. I'm legally allowed to write and speak this opinion. No, it's an appeal to discrimination. That in and on itself is no longer considered a legitimate political position, having been declared unconstitutional and would be considered as a form of bullying or subversion to insist that it's not. It's insulting toward members of the LGBTQ and is not tolerated in a school context nor in court for that matter. If that's what you believe, keep it to yourself or in other venues than schools or courtroom.
Many of them do and turn a blind eye to it. Different discussion, but even those with "zero tolerance" often make up excuses to ignore the problem.Schools don't tolerate bullying like many areas of society do.
Then why are the LGBT people free to put their flag in schools? To teach this way?Once again, you are free to state your beliefs. You are not free to enforce your beliefs upon others.
She does have the right to say that.No you don't. You don' have the right to intimidate or discriminate or insult your peers in a school.
Well they don’t have different standards for homosexuals and heterosexuals. Teachers hold positions of trust. Their charges, the students, are highly impressionable. For this reason teachers are not supposed to promote their own personal agendas or opinions in the classroom. That includes political, religious and sexual mores. Displaying that flag crossed that line. He should be sanctioned. He has started a lawsuit, and it very easily could go badly for the school district:
“The problem I have with it, obviously, is that it’s specific to me, and as an openly gay man that seems a bit discriminatory because if you’re a straight teacher, you can talk about your spouse, your kids, you can have a picture of your family in the classroom, but I have a flag and then all of a sudden there’s a problem. You know, it didn’t make any sense,” Wallis said.

If they are treating gay people and straight people differently in this aspect they could be in trouble since the school allegedly forced him to sign a statement that he would not discuss his sexuality.. If they do not treat straight people the same I predict a loss.

It's how we told to show support. Like after 9/11 supporting America and being patriotic wasn't standing against the PATRIOT act that eroded our rights, it wasn't demanding the TSA not be created, it was displaying flags. And I **** you not, they even had cut out newspapers with flags that had "this side up" printed on them. Then why are the LGBT people free to put their flag in schools? To teach this way?
That is not "promoting a personal agenda". It is actually the law, at least in the US. LGBT people have the same rights as everyone else. You appear to be conflating that most people that are LGBT are liberal with equality being a "liberal cause". Actually since that is the law of the land and change is often taken as being liberal making a change to that status could be argued as a "liberal cause". Equality and rational thought should not be limited to the left.Well they don’t have different standards for homosexuals and heterosexuals. Teachers hold positions of trust. Slavery is literally illegal, so this is not the same.Has anyone said that you do not have that right? Let's get back to my slavery example. It is a rather extreme one, but as disgusting as it is people still have the right to say that slavery was a good thing and should be followed today. Almost no one will take that person seriously. Does that person have a right to say that? Of course. Does he have a right to tell a school how they have to educate his children about slavery?
So... it is ok to bring the Christian Flag into the class and have them say the pledge of allegiance to the US while looking at the Christian Flag?Missouri Teacher Who Displayed Pride Flag Resigns After Parent Complains (insider.com)
Wow, it's almost like the whole country is going backwards.
The teacher filed a civil rights complaint with the U.S. Department of Education.
No more than a hetero teacher having a picture of his/her spouse.Well they don’t have different standards for homosexuals and heterosexuals. Teachers hold positions of trust. Public schools, no.So... it is ok to bring the Christian Flag into the class and have them say the pledge of allegiance to the US while looking at the Christian Flag?
It is also illegal, at least in the US, to discriminate based upon sexuality. So there goes that argument.Slavery is literally illegal, so this is not the same.
Yes, I was told that I should be scared into not saying what I believe and that I should effectively be intimidated into not saying I don't support SSM. That's trying to take that right away. I was told I was this,
"No, it's an appeal to discrimination. That in and on itself is no longer considered a legitimate political position, having been declared unconstitutional and would be considered as a form of bullying or subversion to insist that it's not. It's insulting toward members of the LGBTQ and is not tolerated in a school context nor in court for that matter. Sounds great.
then no other flags except the US Flag.Public schools, no.
So... it is ok to bring the Christian Flag into the class and have them say the pledge of allegiance to the US while looking at the Christian Flag?
So why don't we just teach reading, writing and arithmetic as school instead of personal viewpoints?I can't say for absolute certain, but I would tend to think not. That would go against the principle of the separation of church and state.
That has no basis in Constitutional law.then no other flags except the US Flag.
Because we also need history, science, civics, economics, government, and other bits of info that go far beyond the absurdly dated idea of the three Rs.So why don't we just teach reading, writing and arithmetic as school instead of personal viewpoints?
