umm, it was the pastor of the church and his wife.... and he had gone to some university

Really? We have no “pastors”, we have “elders” who are not university graduates, but who have received instruction and training from our own educational courses. These receive training as teachers and as guides for scriptural counsel in order to assist all in the congregation. There is always a body of elders, never just one man. It keeps things balanced, not giving any one man more say about any issue that might arise. They handle all such issues prayerfully and humbly, with a view to achieving a good and successful outcome.

Our scriptural education is part of our worship. If we don’t know what we believe and why we believe it, we have no business turning up at anyone’s door to tell them how it is. But as I said, not all are Bible scholars adept at tackling the deeper issues. As Jesus indicated, all serve God according to their own abilities and talents.

but lately there hasn't been much of that proselytizing.

As for our door to door work, Covid has meant that precautions have been observed so that all will be safe from spreading this virus to the more vulnerable people in our neighbourhoods and in our own ranks.

We have found other ways to keep spreading our message. Our website has been especially beneficial in recent years. Those who want to know more can access as much information about us as they wish at JW.ORG

All of Jehovah’s Witnesses are preachers, as we all received the commission from Jesus to preach and to educate people to become disciples of Jesus, and worshippers of his God and Father, Jehovah. (Matthew 24:14; Matthew 28:19-20)

As it was in the first century, not everyone welcomes our visits, but the commission was issued and we cannot judge who is worthy and who isn’t. (Matthew 10:11-14) God is the judge of that...
