For people who are seekers; there are religions that may be incompatible with our minds and heart.

I tried to reach out to Christianity literally and metaphorically but it doesn't fit. Oh well... I guess abrahamic religions are not for me.

Are there religions you are incompatible with?

Yes, the same ones as you I think. Any prophet based religion is incompatible to me. I just can't see how God could every delineate all that power to a single person.

Every single one of them. If there was a compatible religion around, I might start to worry a bit.

In my opinion the Gods (and not just one monotheistic God) reach out to all people everyone of us. They don't send agents so that we believe through agents. we have direct communication through our minds and hearts and NOT through other people.

Mainly the Abrahamics -- although not necessarily the mystical strains within them.

Do you know what Orthodox Christianity starts with? with the verb ''do you BELIEVE?'' Believe something OUTSIDE of your life. I can't accept it.

I concur. That isn't to say that there aren't wise people out there. We can learn from others, lots of them. Still, apparently some people need to believe God not only picked one guy, but also plays favorites amongst groups. It's some sort of psychological need I've never personally understood.

    Why, of course there are.

I just don't see how it could be any different.

A wise person won't play God's favourite and makes us his subjects, saying ''it's God's will''. In orthodox christianity they make priests as our fathers and only through fathers/priests we communicate with god. Despicable in my opinion.

    I can't accept it either.

A good portion of my life was spent as a Christian and only learned later on that taking things at face value might ride you a bit, yet unsurprisingly, reality has that incourageable way of tempering beliefs the further down the path you go.

I find direct experience to be better suited for the dynamics of which we are living in, for which adjustments can be made.

    Exactly. It's here and now.

Orthodox believe that our current state is a mistake. And they make commands of donot do this, donot do that, I forbid, you'll go to hell etc.

Our religions are both experiential at the core. When a realisation comes from experience rather than books or someone else's words, it's far more likely to stick.

I wouldn't call it despicable though, just ignorant, in the sense of primal ignorance. If a person has never has a personal 'Ah Ha! moment borne out of an experience, how can they relate to what we're discussing? So the 'I can't understand' goes in both directions. Abrahamics don't understand much outside that paradigm either.

Yes. Christianity because of "human" sacrifice

I don't think Muslim, no. Jewish from what I know of on RF, probably more than islam. Hindu, depends, I guess. I think christianity is probably the only common religion that involves a death of a person I will never be compatible with.

I don't know how anyone can be compatible with that.

That's a large part of the appeal of mysticism to me. The experimental aspect. You never know what you're going to find.

I find it easier to name the religions I *am* compatible with, although I am not fully compatible with even them.

I like Buddhism. I like some aspects of certain types of paganism (primarily the moral aspects). And I am somewhat inclined towards pantheism.

    I couldn't agree more.
Every person has draw their own path to enlightenment. And that's the beauty. A unique path that is also a number of other unique paths and alltogether we share. And we coexist in the end. :)

Just out of curiosity, what do you think of Taoism?

I'm not as familiar with it as maybe I should be. It tends to be a bit more mystical than my preferences, as far as i can see.

True. But we've all encountered dominant religions with millions of worshippers. dominant religions cross our path.
