    .

Last night, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a bill putting a stop to religious exemptions for required vaccinations.

Too many people had been using religious excuses to get their children out of getting their shots, and it was creating a public health crisis, especially in Orthodox Jewish communities.

This bill, A.2371, closed that loophole for good.

“The science is crystal clear: Vaccines are safe, effective and the best way to keep our children safe. This administration has taken aggressive action to contain the measles outbreak, but given its scale, additional steps are needed to end this public health crisis,” Governor Cuomo said. “While I understand and respect freedom of religion, our first job is to protect the public health and by signing this measure into law, we will help prevent further transmissions and stop this outbreak right in its tracks.”

It’s the right move for the entire state. The only people who shouldn’t be required to get vaccines are people who have medical reasons for it. To use God as an excuse, putting the public’s health in jeopardy, is wildly irresponsible. The government needed to take action, and the Democratically controlled state did just that.

Science won out over religion, and public health won out over a faith-based death wish.

You will never learn until it's too late. You're setting precedent for people to lose their rights in the future. Congrats!

Yes, people further lose the right to put others at risk. Your right to swing your arm stops at the other person's face.

What about the right not have one's own health or life jepordized due to other people's stupid superstitions?
Also, you can't vote for the party that has opposed gay marriage, reproductive rights, and cannabis legalization and then pretend that you actually give a damn about freedom.

I have to admit, I am on the fence about this. While I understand the impetus to eliminate health risks, and I do believe vaccination to be one of the more ingenious methods of doing so, I don't like the idea that the government can legally enforce that someone accept a substance into their body.

Are there any other situations in which this is required/authorized? Maybe prescribed-meds to patients in government-run health facilities? Prisoners in government-run prisons, maybe?

I also don't think it is fair to put responsibility for the activity of a virus squarely on the person who communicated it without further analysis of the situation. Does anyone really want us to get to a point where someone can be sued for contracting and spreading a virus unintentionally? One place I can think of where this happens all the time is in classrooms. Should I hold the school responsible if my kid gets sick? How about in hospitals? Can I sue the hospital if a trip to the emergency room exposes me to illness and I get sick as a result? Should I be able to sue over the activity of a virus which is outside of human control, let alone even awareness?

I don't care what him or anyone thinks about it.

Creating new laws that forces people to accept medicine or treatment against their will is Orwellian to say the least.

Not that any of you care, you're too busy gloating to realize you just drove a nail in your own coffins.

Oh yes, requiring people to be vaccinated to ensure the health and safety of the general public is just another step towards that slippery slide into socialism, homosexuality and Satan worship.

Do you regularly wear a tin foil hat at the end of the week?

If our right to bodily autonomy is violated, it is just a matter of time before we see other rights being taken away as well.
Who wants to live in a society where human rights are not recognized or validated? What if they want to inject you with something that will kill you? Who says that vaccines are safe and effective? The people who manufacture them? Really?

If you understand what makes the viruses mutate, then what if these vaccines (which do not provide natural immunity) just facilitate the development of super viruses who regroup when challenged by unnatural means. Natural immunity acquired through exposure to these viruses produces life long protection. Vaccinations do not.

They have paid out over 4 billion dollars in compensation for vaccine related injury and death, just in the US alone....if they make it law, then will parents be able to demand compensation for the permanent brain damage or death of their child from the so-called "safe" injections?

$4 Billion and Growing: U.S. Payouts for Vaccine Injuries and Deaths Keep Climbing • Children's Health Defense

Giving multiple viruses to very young children when their immune systems are not ready is just asking for trouble. Take the emotion out of this topic and see what its really all about. We need to listen to both sides of this argument.
Only one side has huge profits to lose.....think about that.

This is why you guys should not be in charge with decision making. You can't see past your own nose.

Since you can't see that far I'll give ya heads up.

You just set precedent to eliminate Roe vs Wade for example. Because my body my choice no longer applies, at least in NY. Of course this isn't the only danger, but you can bet this will be the danger that presents itself in the immediate future.

Gosh darn it! Next thing you know the government is going to be requiring us to wear a helmet when riding a motorcycle or they're going to have us wear a seat belt while driving and I heard there are plans that they will require us to have car seats for young children! What about our body autonomy! If I don't want to be strapped into some Satanic contraption made in the pits of hell in order to protect my body then it is my right and if I don't want to strap in junior it is my right because I get say what I want for junior in regards to his safety, not the government! They're taking all our right and it is going to turn us all gay, I don't want junior to turn gay and shucks if don't risk our lives by not strapping in then what is freedom all about then? Freedom is about the right to needlessly put your life and the lives of innocent people at risk! That's what has made America great and I am going to keep it great! I am no sissy! Make America Great Again and don't wear a seat belt! That will show all these Commie Satanist Pinko Homosexuals that we mean business. If we don't stand up to them and their health and safety measure then we will all turn gay I tell you! That's their whole plan to turn us all gay. Vaccines and seat belts are all part of the gay agenda. I know it.

I almost died due to my shots when I was young as I was allergic to something used in the shot. A fact the doctors had zero clue about because they didn't bother to check beforehand. Now I have medical exemption after the fact.

    Nothing happened to the doctors
