Hello COG. Jazz is really nice. I used to have a jazz keyboardist next door apt to me years ago. I remember knocking on his door once while he was playing and upon opening the door he apologised if he was too loud. Actually, I just wanted him to turn it up a bit. LOL I miss the dude and his music. He was a real good fella and very gifted.

hey! Did you get your degree in jazz?
If so what college did you go to?

I got my degree in jazz and contemporary music
from the New School in Manhattan. Years ago. :areyoucra
(Piano emphasis)

I play all kinds of styles though,
but the improvisation thing always comes through. ;)

Hey there!

To answer your question, I studied jazz performance at the University of Miami (Florida) School of Music for 3 years, before I transferred and changed my major to Business Administration. My reasoning for transferring was that I didn't want to teach music. So, having that business degree enables me to do something else, in case my music performance career doesn't work out.

Anyways, it's good to meet you - the New School is awesome! I was raised in Connecticut, so I know all about that place....

I, too, play all sorts of styles while improvising. Do you play professionally? If so, I think that's awesome! :)

It's always nice to meet other jazz musicians!
