I kinda wish the story of Jesus and the crowd who wanted to stone the woman to death; the "Who among you is without sin, let him cast the first stone." story. I wish that story were not a later addition to the bible. But I hear it nevertheless is a relatively late addition.
There's a version of this in the Islamic tradition narrated by ibn Hanbal.
When Jesus says 'let he who is without sin cast the first stone', John the Baptist strolls up and smashes her head in with a rock

On the other hand, many scholars strongly defend the Johannine authorship of these verses. This group of critics is typified by such scholars as Nolan (1865), and Burgon (1886); and find modern counterparts and apologists in Hoskier (1920), O.T. Fuller (1978), Pickering (1980), Hodges & Farstad (1985), Pierpont, and Robinson (2005).
Almost all modern translations now include the Pericope de Adultera at John 7:53-8:11; but most enclose it in brackets, and/or add a note concerning the oldest and most reliable witnesses. [source]

I strongly suspect that it's an addition, but I am far from certain.

Therefore?The OP is Christian tho.
Specifically which two authors disagreed? ... based on what evidence?I think it's very important to establish that the Bible is the work of many authors who often disagreed with one another.

Brilliant.I've heard that some scholars believe ...
Oh gee,,I found a translation error in the Bible,,, let me cry out like an ignorant child and claim "foul"!!! Oh Gee,,Jesus hasn't appeared yet,,,well,,I guess that means He isn't coming and His Bible is a fraud. lol. There are many, who will have that stupid look of surprise and confusion at the last day. You have forsaken the Bible as a joke. You have taken the longsuffering and mercy of God to mean He doesn't exist. Surely He is just when He destroys those who have mocked His Bible and His Law and His Mercy. The Bible calls the destruction of the wicked His "strange act". Strange for a loving God to destroy His Creation. Nevertheless, it will be done. Amen!
