Not sure if this is the right place for this, but just curious which error, inconsistency, anachronism or plagiarism is your favorite.

There are too many. There are so many glorified and variations translation to translation it becomes painfully obvious that along the road many people just sort of edited their opinions and dramatic retelling into the book as it was copied and translated.

I dont know if this counts, but it sounds like a contradiction to me. Creating a life, for it to die spiritually, saving the life, for it to have an ultimatum to either keep his life that was saved or to die all over again.

Instead of going through all of that, let the person live in paradise with freedom of choice for good things or stay in spiritual death. Why save someone you would not give the option for them to turn from you without being punished?

That's like a mother punishing her son for saying "I don't love you anymore mother." Yes, the mother would get mad. What is the motive behind the actual punishment though? Or is it her ego that is hurt rather than something he actually did?

    ---

Another die to live example. "I will give you my child (take a life) to show that I obey you (keep my life) and as a result you spare my child's life (save him) but on the other hand, you still asked me to sacrifice my son in the first place.

Obedience does not always need to be shown by sacrifice of a person, Jesus included.

    --

Jesus telling his disciples to follow Him is to follow God yet telling Peter (or Paul?) who asked Jesus a question, but getting in return from Jesus, "I know nothing. Only the Father knows."

So, who knows? If I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life why not come to me for answers? If I am these things, wouldn't what I say be what God says? If that be the case, why refer to the Father when Jesus said He speaks for Him?

I dont have the time to go over all the verses. I dont think it's all false and mistranslated.

"for by grace have ye been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not of works, that no man should glory." (Ephesians 2:8-9)

"And the sea gave up the dead that were in it; and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works." (Revelation 20:13)

And wow, that II Samuel one is crazy.

I kinda wish the story of Jesus and the crowd who wanted to stone the woman to death; the "Who among you is without sin, let him cast the first stone." story. I wish that story were not a later addition to the bible. But I hear it nevertheless is a relatively late addition.

There's a version of this in the Islamic tradition narrated by ibn Hanbal.

When Jesus says 'let he who is without sin cast the first stone', John the Baptist strolls up and smashes her head in with a rock :grimacing:

    At the same time ...
I strongly suspect that it's an addition, but I am far from certain.

I'm going to celebrate the chance it's not an addition. The story is too beautiful.

If we can understand the "contradictions" then the thread may thrive?

The OP is Christian tho. I think it's very important to establish that the Bible is the work of many authors who often disagreed with one another.

    Therefore?
Specifically which two authors disagreed? ... based on what evidence?

Paul of Tarsus and John of Patmos, in my example. See also the differing numbers quoted by Skwim. I've heard that some scholars believe Genesis to be the work of mutliple authors, and depending on how one interprets the story of David & Jonathan there may be disagreement about homosexuality as well.

Oh gee,,I found a translation error in the Bible,,, let me cry out like an ignorant child and claim "foul"!!! Oh Gee,,Jesus hasn't appeared yet,,,well,,I guess that means He isn't coming and His Bible is a fraud. lol. There are many, who will have that stupid look of surprise and confusion at the last day. You have forsaken the Bible as a joke. You have taken the longsuffering and mercy of God to mean He doesn't exist. Surely He is just when He destroys those who have mocked His Bible and His Law and His Mercy. The Bible calls the destruction of the wicked His "strange act". Strange for a loving God to destroy His Creation. Nevertheless, it will be done. Amen!
