I chuckled and nodded at this. But it's not just Americans who do this (play violent video games a lot). I've linked to an article below which I think is highly dubious research, so don't jump on me. I think they are ignoring socio-economics entirely, and driving to an answer they like. But...it does paint a picture. Japan has much more violent video game play than the US, for example, and Australia is ALMOST comparable.
So whilst I would agree that there are some cultural factors at play, and some level of 'tacticool' (as
@Father Heathen would say...lol), I'm not convinced that video games in and of themselves move the needle at all.
