They told him he had the right to preach, he wasn't arrested for preaching. It was because he had that loudspeaker up full blast and he was harassing people who did not want to engage him. He broke the law.

I have an idea...Let's get thousands and thousands of street preachers, give them microphones, turn up the volume on all of them to 11, and let them preach to each other...so it doesn't bother people who don't want to listen, let's put them in the middle of a stadium...

Jesus was the first "street preacher".

I was reading my emails when I got an alert on your reply.
And no problem with your mistake. I don't know that they're not credible. I sure prefer them to CNN. That network not only admitted to making up news but its reporters did too. Their viewer numbers are dropping. Thank goodness. How they have any viewers now is beyond me after their own admissions to creating and broadcasting fake news.

The law that prohibits street preachers exercising their religious rights and free speech is due to a Hate Speech bill that passed into law.
The End of Religious LIberty in Canada

England has the same kind of restrictions disguised as prohibitions against "hate speech".

If he was using his natural voice with no amplifier he'd likely have still been arrested due to the hate speech statute. Hate speech being subjective, all a member of the LGBTQ community would have to do is complain and that's a violation. But to have a group of them complain, as they're want to travel in groups if they're made aware of a situation like a street preacher, they'll be a numbered force. And then they can in group think claim they're offended. And that what the preacher is saying is hate speech.
LGBTQ threaten the lives of bakers and florists in America after all. They're not beyond threatening a man on a street preaching that the immoral sexual sinner , that would be the gay or straight, will not see the kingdom of Heaven.

When the Bible is considered "hate speech" in Canada it is a matter of time before their lawmakers try to subdue preaching indoors.

Sinners don't like to be told they are sinners and there's an afterlife penalty awaiting the unrepentant.
While those sinners laugh and call that myth they don't know what comes next. What they think is waiting is just as much a faith as any other.

No, loud speakers are not acceptable....I agree. I didn't see that in the video.
Christians are not suppose to harass others. But delivering the Christian message is incumbent on all of Christ's followers. What they do about it is up to them.

No he did not. It was to be offered, not forced. If you notice the way JW's witness on the streets, it is very quietly. We speak only to those who want to speak to us. We let our literature do the talking....and our website, JW.ORG

I guess its all in the how and not the why.....we can't expect people to be reasonable anymore. The world has gone nuts. The truth is only accepted if it puts no restraint on what people want to do.

Its a big planet so I guess we have to share it with all sorts of people until Christ brings his big broom and sweeps it all clean.

Pastor is out of line with the mic and all. The protestors are validation seekers thus have issues. Horrible mix.

It's a good example just how socialist Canada has become and what it really entails which is the expected loss of individual freedom and liberties.

The headline to this thread is so extreme that I automatically dismissed the argument. One preacher who is using a loudspeaker for over two hours is arrested for disturbing the peace and this is turned into an over the top fear-mongering thread.

If someone near me preached kindness to puppies for two hours using a loudspeaker, I'd call the cops.

Instead it appears as though he wanted to get arrested so he could complain about mistreatment. Then people could complain about how they're discriminated against. It's a typical agitprop technique used by demonstrators of every stripe.

There are lots of street preachers in Canada. They follow the noise laws, and have no problems, other than a few people telling them off as they walk by. Free speech allows folks to do that as well as preach. Most preachers get used to being told off.

Some Christians like him love this stuff, they get to feel like martyrs. It confirms to them that society really is prosecuting them for being Christians when what is really being done is that you are being arrested for acting like douche nozzle in public.

It's in other facets of life too. People with race issues will act like jerks, and then complain to the police that the police are racist. I remember a guy in a wheelchair (when I worked in a bar) who was just about the most vulgar person I had ever heard. When the bouncers kicked him out, he was all over them for bullying a guy in a wheelchair. So it's not just some tactic used by street preachers seeking attention.

Fortunately most sensible folks don't fall for such antics.

It's amazing how fast Canada is following the route of England. I still remember when Canadians had to turn in their firearms.

Just like England, they did it without a fight and obviously regret that.

Then went up the surveillance, albeit not as bad as the UK, and since then the Socialists had went after free speech they deemed unfit for their agenda.

I figure it's just a matter of time for areas of the US , but I also suspect a lot of us aren't going to be complete pushovers like the English and Canadians and giving up fundamental rights and privileges that have been enjoyed for centuries.

Evangelicals often have a very serious and disturbing victimhood complex, and they rigorously preach the world is out to get them because they are Christian, because the Bible says they will be persecuted for being Christian. And they expect and desire martyrdom. This issue was actually one of the first "cracks" in my own faith whenn I got out of homeschooling and into public schools, and realized no one is out to get me.

You realize this has nothing to do with free speech, don't you? He was harassing people over a loudspeaker. Why should that be tolerated?
And Canada still has guns, BTW.
