Yes, Canada is Actually Arresting Christian Pastors and Banning Them From Preaching in Public

It is no longer legal to preach the word of Christ on the Canadian streets if others are offended.

A Christian pastor named David Lynn was arrested and charged with disturbing the peace with “derogatory comments” on Tuesday for preaching the word of God on a street corner at Church-Wellesley Village in Toronto, ON.

After the disciple of Christ was harassed by a group of unruly protesters, he was hauled off in handcuffs by law enforcement because preaching the Gospel was considered to be a criminal violation.

The LGBT mob cheered on as the man was dragged away in handcuffs, a sign of things to come if their perverse agenda continues unabated.

The article continues at the link and includes a cop-cam video of the incident.

I use to live in Toronto . It can only get worse at this point. God be with Canadian Christians.

No, disturbing the peace is the violation. I've had these jokers accost me on the street before. He is free to talk about his theology to those who want to hear it. that is why there are all those buildings built with tax free money.......you know, the churches?

He kept forcing himself on people. They told him they did not want to engage him or talk to him but he wouldn't live them alone (and he called a few of them bigots because they were trying to ignore him) and he had no business pumping up those amps and pollute the environment with his noise. The police told him to turn the mic off and he wouldn't, he had a right to preach but not disturb the peace.

Did you even read those articles? The man was being an assho!e, using an amplifier and harassing people. He was disturbing the peace. The excuse that one is supporting his superstition does not fly when it affects others.

Yeah, so street preaching...for God, political parties, or whatever else...is subject to rules around public nuisance and noise pollution.

I don't see anything around him being targetted for being Christian.

Claims that Christians are 'the most persecuted faith' seem more like a badge of honour, or apocalyptic beliefs at play than anything actually meaningful in Western society.

That is a very disturbing video. It is a sad state of affairs when speaking about Christ is offensive to people who live in a supposedly "Christian" society....but its not unexpected, (John 15:18-21) especially as the world becomes more secular.

Life is conditional from the Bible's perspective......it was from the start, and it still is now.....but people want the right to do what "they" want to do, regardless of what God says. They see that as their right to express their free will, but want to take the free will of others away from them. This has been the crux of the problem from the beginning I think. Christians had the upper hand for so long that now the boot is on the other foot, we see revenge being enacted. If we all live and let live, as God allows us, then we will offer the Christian message as Jesus told us to, but we will never force our views on anyone. We chose our beliefs and they are free to choose theirs. Informing them about how God feels is our duty but at the end of the day...its their choice and God is their judge.

Was this man disturbing the peace or was he simply disturbing the peace of the protesters just by being there? If his message was peaceful, then why the arrest? Who told those police officers to arrest a man who was not violent but speaking of love? We remember that the apostles were arrested for their preaching too.....people are always going to be offended by the truth because they don't like it.

There is an agenda and it is being upheld by the law enforcers. But who is behind that agenda....? Powerful people in high places I assume....

Any preacher, beggar, hawker, etc. on the public streets hassling everyone who walks (or drives) by deserves to be arrested. People have the right to walk around on publicly funded streets without being harassed. We have some intersections in my city that have very aggressive panhandlers. I know people who will take the long route around those intersections just to avoid it. What an unnecessary nuisance!

If some fool started prancing in the street naked, saying it was just his religion, should we support that?

Acts 5:27-29 explains that when the apostles were arrested for their preaching, they were told to stop doing what Christ commanded them to do.....

"So they brought them and stood them before the Sanʹhe·drin. Then the high priest questioned them 28 and said: “We strictly ordered you not to keep teaching on the basis of this name, and yet look! you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and you are determined to bring the blood of this man upon us.” 29 In answer Peter and the other apostles said: We must obey God as ruler rather than men."

We follow that same rule...no government can tell us to stop doing what God commands. We will obey every other law.

He had a microphone and and amplifier and was broadcasting it loudly. He was told to turn it down, not off, but he ignored the request and continued to blare his speech loudly. He was being a jerk, to put it mildly. There are a bazillion church buildings for this sort of stuff. People who actually want to hear his BS will show up there. Leave the rest of the population in peace.

God commanded you to stand on a street corner with a loudspeaker and be an *******?

So, ONE street preacher gets arrested...

The description of hate speech act sounds like it would apply equally to all religions...

Freedom of speech does have limits, and both governments and citizens and various groups and organizations have to keep testing those boundaries...
