Forget the video. I just want to know what you think.I quit watching when he claimed that the Republicans want a dictatorship...
I think everyone who really wants to vote can do so. I have to drive to the polls, you might have to walk a bit or catch a ride.Forget the video. I just want to know what you think.
Do you believe voting is a right? Or do you think it is a privilege?
If it is a right does that mean every citizen of voting age should have equal access?
Strange comparison. Do you think fishing is a right?I think everyone who really wants to vote can do so. I have to drive to the polls, you might have to walk a bit or catch a ride.
I think showing you ID to vote is common sense. I have to do that much to get a fishing license.
Darn right I do.Strange comparison. Do you think fishing is a right?
The nanny state. What you mean is republicans allow businesses to not pay adequate wages so the state has to subsidize the underpaid workers so the businesses can pretend to make more profit. The state is the nanny to big business, not to struggling people with little influence in government. The nanny state, three men in a room, stuff like that.
Oh I won't argue with that. One of the few things I've been swayed on here. A living wage. The nanny state. It's because capitalism is fundamentally toxic to the society in which it operates. We expect the government to pass laws to mitigate the damage that toxic system causes, but eventually the toxin of greed infects the government, too, and it becomes a servant of capitalism, instead of the people. And instead of protecting them from it, the government becomes an enabler of the poisonous system that it's supposed to be reigning in. Walmart doesn't want to pay a living wage, or pay any taxes, so it bribes the legislature to make sure it doesn't have to. Then the government has to cover the cost of living for those Walmart's employees, or let them starve. And to do that, it has to further tax everyone else. So instead of protecting the population from the unremitting greed of capitalism, it ends up enabling it at the expense of the public it no longer protects or serves.Oh I won't argue with that. One of the few things I've been swayed on here. A living wage.
Your right though, there is a nanny aspect with the right that's just as bad.
I call it screwed two ways to Sunday.
What I find sad, here, is the reasoning. "I have to do X, so everyone else should have to do X, too". It's incredibly selfish reasoning. And completely illogical as it presumes that voting is the same as getting a fishing license.I think everyone who really wants to vote can do so. I have to drive to the polls, you might have to walk a bit or catch a ride.

Much less so than the Pubs as surveys and experiences have clearly shown, and your use of "false equivalence" is just a feeble attempt to obstruct the reality. I used to be a Republican but left largely because of the blatant racism I heard and witnessed on a regular basis, including even within my own extended family and neighbors. Now I am an independent but undoubtedly come off more as being a Dem, which is largely because the Pub Party has abandoned any sense of fairness and democratic values. And you actually think the left is void of that themselves?
I will give you one thing, the left does a much better job at hiding it then the right does.

I'm not not sure how republicans will respond to waning power
And their failure on Jan 6th is not going to be the end of the saga. Their lust for gaining total control of government by any means necessary has not abated even one little bit. They already showed us on January 6.
