An Alarming Observation

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Do you believe voting is a right? Or do you think it is a privilege?

If it is a right does that mean every citizen of voting age should have equal access?
Its actually a privilege if you look back into history.

Otherwise, the founding fathers would have seen everyone voting on day one.

Why it was like that during those times would make a very interesting topic I would think.

Weren't there articles and tweet threads about how democracy had went too far or there was too much democracy when Trump won? I'm pretty sure I remember fairly centrist American liberal types (Hillary cultists) basically advertising their grief in a "the stupids shouldn't be allowed to vote" kind of way.

Then you remember incorrectly. There was never a statement that stupid people should not be allowed to vote. There *has* been despair that so many stupid people refuse to educate themselves.

Do you agree that having as many citizens voting as possible is a good thing?

It was like that because many of the people here at the time were slaves and/or had vaginas. God forbid we let those people vote, amirite?

Yes.

Epistocracy: a political theorist’s case for letting only the informed vote

It was also a quite common refrain on here and IRL post-Trump win/Brexit

Going back to Plato, self-elected 'smart people' have thought they should have more say in societies governance than those they deem intellectually inferior.

Ok, so who is it that benevolently grants you this privilege? And who has the power to take it away? Can Congress take away your right to vote? Or is it a State thing? If you don’t use this privilege they way they want you to can they remove it? Can they remove it retroactively and decide after you vote that you shouldn’t have that privilege and your vote should not count?

It is interesting you thought the poll was inaccurate. Yet you seem to be among the 67% that don’t think voting is a right.

So, it's "a smaller group" versus "a massive amount" and, therefore ...
... Clinton won by 2.8 million votes in 2016 and Biden won by 7.0 million votes in 2020.

What's wrong with this picture?
Not sure anything is wrong? depends what you mean?

I've prepared myself for republicans being in power in the near future as their efforts to limit voting access in looking to be successful. I'm not sure what the GOP will do with their power, but if it is more of what we see today there will likely be a huge backlash at some point. I'm not not sure how republicans will respond to waning power since they are working hard and intent on gaming the system. My guess is they will go even farther to hold onto power and the America we all know will collapse as a democracy.
