Pretty ironic scenario. over here when there's a political boiling point, I can enter the university through a crowd of Arab students waving Hezballah flags. its not uncommon to enter the university through big tents of anti Israeli presentations and demonstrations. and yes, I am talking about a university in Israel.
par the secular or rather leftist nature of my university its also not totally uncommon to be preached by some of the professors and doctors against Israeli policies and the occupation.
Now, here I'm talking about the academy, the situation and environment is different between the academy and pre academy schools where there's a trend around the world to not permit children wearing shirts with political statements, and that even included youngsters in the US wearing shirts in support of their presidential candidate.
so my advice, don't send your kid to school wearing a Sarah Palin T shirt, a 'Free Palestine' T shirt, or 'Putin is my home boy' T shirt. save it for when these children grow up and can express their own political stances and positions by themselves in their university, and to fellow students, in students demonstrations, in students debates, etc.
Edit:
I'd also like some clarification on the OP regarding the use of the term 'college', and the age of the girl (16). in France the term college usually means junior high, but her age indicates that she should be in High school, her age also gives the impression that she is too young to be in college in the American sense, as in an institute of higher learning. so I'm left with a few question marks.
