A schoolgirl punished for a pro-Palestinian T-shirt in France!!

Actually, in retrospect I'm not sure I care at all whether or not a French student was sent home for wearing a Free Palestine shirt. Why should I even know about such a thing? Modern information sharing technology has gotten way out of hand.

Done here.
I think it might be worthwhile to consider simply banning clothing with writing on it, and accept the fact that students are at school to learn and not to serve as billboards of any kind. That would make the rule both clear and fair, and would eliminate this constant bickering about content.

I used to be against school uniforms, but this point makes me less sure. Thanx.

Friends,

Just one statement from friend Sajdah and we have a divided house;
This is human minds and that create dualities.

Am unable to understand as to what the issue is here: is it school discipline that wearing T-shirts are not acceptable? Or is it that it divides the house between countries and religions because the words on the T-shirt states: Free Palestine?
Let us first decide on the issue here and then discuss so that they is synergy in everyone's arguments; what do you say, friends?

I think the issue is the girl did not need to wear that shirt and was deliberately trying to incite controversy which is unnecesary.

Its not permitted in the state i live in because it really serves no purpose, its deliberately being controversial and school is neither the time nor the place for it.

Does the school have any rules against wearing of T-shirts? Then surely the school has done the needful.
If the school rules have no such issues then she is a citizen of a free world having rights to wear and speak what she likes.
Besides being young one always does things for kicks which she did without prejudice am sure or being an innocent school children have been used by parents or some elders to carry a message like most suicide bombers who know not what and why the do so except brain washed for some idealism.
In any case the school acted judiciously to see that the school is free from all controversies by sending her back, then where is the issue?

what is her mother thinking? if the mother is part of some organization let the mother wear such t-shirt, looks like a child brainwash education from parents.

the worst part to it all is that if a french girl would put on a t-shirt in some Muslim country saying free Israel getting sent home would be the least of the problems. I'm not even talking about gathering signature to protest. Muslims have more rights living in EU then in their own countries and they till complain of not getting a fare treatment.

Sajdah would you respect the same rights to Christians or Jews in Muslim countries as much as Muslims receive in Europe, United States or Israel?

I would suggest theres more to this (leaving a course without permission with disobedience) is tending to be overlooked by the more headline grabbing palestinian Tshirt.

but i cant find any other sources as yet.

I'm not against dress codes for schools. It annoys me to see 14 year old girls dressed like whores going off to class. (On second thought, maybe those were 14 year old whores. I dunno. I can't tell the difference any more). A ban on "writing" would be OK with me as long as my future kids can still where these clothes I'm going to make them:

If what kids wear is such an issue, maybe the schools should tell them completely what to do. It's really quite easy... Don't wear shirts with logos, pictures, or words. Don't where low-cut tops, short skirts, short shorts... We otta just rid the whole world of it's freedom. The heck with it right? We don't even have freedom of speech anymore, freedom of marriage, freedom of clothing... whatever

Would you be good with other students wearing T-shirts that said, "Long live Israel"?

I would listen to them to understand the reasons behind their ignorance which lead them to wear a T-shirt with such statement...I would also handle the issue with an honest discussion based on historical facts and the current facts about "Israel"...Punishing them before listening to their views and explaining the errors in their thoughts would never solve the problem in my opinion!!

One more thing, I think that reacting this way in a country claims to protect everyone's rights of free speech, is clearly revealing its disgusting bias in dealing with some issues concerning Arabs and Muslims in general...

I don't really know what's wrong with France especially?!!

Not the whole world, just the schools. Sorry, but I don't see anything at all wrong with dress codes.

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
Once again, the French are clueless. This action on the part of the school is a bandaid applied to an arterial wound.

The reason why the French are so kneejerk about the shirt is because they have allowed "the Muslim issue" to snowball out of control for so many years, in an attempt to be politically correct. Their ridiculous immigration policies (ie, handout for everyone - live off the taxes that French citizens pay out their wazoos, for years - and bring your entire extended family over while you're at it) has created a very ugly situation.

I am not against controlled immigration - come here and start working - but what's happening across Europe has been a nightmare in the making for at least two decades.

Add the fact that native European birthrates are among the lowest in the world (not at replacement level in fact) and Muslim birthrates in Europe are at least double the native rates - and a culture clash is inevitable.

By the way, I think the school should simply ban all clothing with writing on it (other than name brand advertising). Seems simple.

And the French banning the Muslim headscarf is totally, totally ridiculous - and simply wrong. A child shouldn't have to compromise their religious beliefs when it comes to dress code. They should be allowed to wear headgear or clothing that's religious in nature, as long as it doesn't have slogans on it or isn't too revealing. They should be able to wear jewelry with religious symbols also.

Unless of course, the school wants to switch to uniforms. That's an option too - and probably the most fair and least discriminatory.

so the girl put on a t-shirt to force a discussion in class?

are you aware that the link that you provided is fake? I searched the internet for this and it doesn't come up anywhere, then I researched the site you provided, and it looks fake, even the grammar skills are not that good for a news.

It seems that the English newspapers care only when the accident happens in Muslim countries, anyway there are several links, but all in French language.......Here is one of them.
