A possible french fry shortage is looming due to poor potato crop this year

For some odd reason we have very few Korean restaurants, a rather large error here, instead Korean immigrants like to open teriyaki and sushi restaurants, both Japanese cuisine. That is why Chinese fish and chips reminded me of strange cultural pairings.
We have a variant of the same problem. 90% of "Indian" restaurants in Britain are run by Bangladeshis - and despised by actual Indians.

But these things are more mixed up than we sometime realise. the Portuguese brought tempura to Japan. And Marco Polo brought pasta to Italy from China. And Italian cuisine did not have the tomato (!!) until Columbus.

When I was in Houston I worked with someone who could not believe that pizza was invented in Naples and not the USA.

And if you cannot get French fries, perhaps these will do. They are quite tasty:

And Indians (welcome to my convenience store not welcome to my casino) did not have hot peppers until after Columbus either. Ultimately cuisine is international.

Edit: Pizza may not be American, but I do believe the combination of spaghetti and meatballs is. Ramen!

The green bits? Mint?
Italian parsley, shallots, lemon juice, and potatoes of course. Purple ones. A local shop carries those. He closes for the winter, and I finally tried them. Quite good actually. Now I want more and cannot find any. I will have to wait until spring.

Edit: Also sea salt, white pepper and olive oil.

I'm thrilled at the increase in lifespan and health as the evil word "fry" disappears from the vocabulary of people. No more shall people suffer from culinary "sin today repent at leisure".

It sounds like there might be some kind of underground black market in potatoes, headed up by some shadowy figure known only as "Mr. Potato Head."
It's the Russian Potato Mob, which got its start by producing vodka, and has since branched out into other potato-based products...They are colluding to create along with Lays and other snack producers artificial shortages so they can charge higher prices...
