As promised I will address what is spirit:
Mans spirit is his word, it is his communicator. It resides in the heart and in the mind, (Matthew 12:33). Jesus said the words I speak are spirit, (John 6:63).
Coupled with faith, your spirit can do things, (Mk11:23). Spirit is always speaking...
Yes, I agree, but I'm going to work in a few hours and wasn't going to write a whole essay about this.
I do see henotheism and I do see monotheism, but there's a divergence in the texts. I'm looking for the forms of worship established by the texts, whichever forms they are.
They seem to...
I'm pleased that you've found one. Much has been written * since Wellhausen or, for that matter, R. E. Friedman.
Personally, I do not believe that it was written by one cohort representing one agenda and directed to one relatively homogenous audience. Compare, for example, the Song of Deborah...
I see...its all completely different to the Christian bible is it (ie the creation account)? Funny that because i have copied some verses straight out of the Tenach/Torah/Bere****1&2 (Genesis 1&2) and it looks exactly the same to me when i read it!
1In the beginning of God's creation of the...
Sure, any god in any fiction can become man. We have no evidence of god or god doing anything in real life.
It's not, William Dever is the most prolific archaeologist on the Bible:
THE FAITH OF ABRAHAM
Q: According to the Bible, the first person to form a covenant with God is Abraham. He is...
Maybe start at the beginning;
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
And God...
Wow?!
That’s low.
So Hawking made some money, from some books he wrote and few other works.
He wasn’t trying to swindle people’s money, like YEC creationists like Ken Ham and Kent Hovind, and Hovind is a convicted for tax frauds/evasion.
The both make money from their business ventures than...
I hope you realize that I do not believe each day of creation was 24 hours each, but clearly enough, to me at least, the last day (or 7th day) cited is still ongoing. Just so you know what I believe about the length of each creative day.
You are completely ignoring the facts that there are far older recorded myths than Genesis 1 & 2, from Egypt and Mesopotamia (from (3rd millennium BCE) Sumer to (7th-6th centuries BCE) Neo-Babylonian dynasty. And the 6th century Israelites/Jews were no more knowledgeable than the Mesopotamians...
Oh my goodness what does all this mean?
I've done my own examination and have drawn my conclusions. I'm aware of the position that others have taken on the Bible as either literal or allegorical.
But thank you so much. I wouldn't want to divert from the point of the thread.
Oh my goodness. A "literal creation"? What exactly does that mean?
If you'd like, I can go over the description in Genesis in reference to creation. The first two verses are certainly worth examining, at least I think so.
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2Now the earth...
I do not necessarily agree with that.
For example, the Great Pyramids of Egypt were built on a grand scale with stone and even compass direction precision that rivals construction of today, all without modern technology. This very advance construction, is way out of place in terms for its time...
It has ... probably yearly.
Genesis 1-2 is an evolved etiological Myth which served as scaffolding for a theological polemic. I suspect that the authors/redactors neither knew nor cared that the tale contained what we now recognize as scientific errors.
I would like to watch the video thanks. The earch was possibly covered in water before land appeared.

Is your heart really set on interpreting Genesis 1 with a Troposphere being created?
The verses do not appear to care about that aspect of Earth's makeup. In other words, Genesis 1 does not describe any kind of atmosphere being created because is not important to what we are supposed to learn...
Again, you are assuming that there was a before, when in fact Time didn't exist until God created the universe. Again, God exists in ETERNITY, not in Time. He is not bound by the creation. I think we are experiencing a failure of imagination here. You are simply having a rough time imagining...
