Private companies can do whatever they want. Renaming items has zero effect on me. If it makes society a better place to live, fine.
You shouldn't focus on the viewpoints of .00001% of the population though. Smells agenda-ish.

Primary/secondary is generally used for things like software versions.

For the specific example of a brake system, I mentioned "control cylinder" (i.e. the thing that takes control inputs) and "actuator" (i.e. the thing that does the intended physical work).

"Master/slave" terminology is often ambiguous, too.

Seems to me that if there are any thin-skinned people here, it's the ones who are losing their **** at the thought of using slightly more respectful language.

Don't you get it? They as those companies in your link are a case of communistic fascism. They are using their "freedom" to change, how they use their "capitalistic property rights" to do as they want, including how they name, what is "theirs". Don't you understand, they are not doing something libertarian at all?!!

Don't you get it, these "capitalistic companies" are doing something, they shouldn't be allowed to do, because I should be able to demand, that they do as I want, because all that counts, is my freedom.
True freedom is that everybody do as I want them to act. As for the preamble of the Constitution of the USA, We the People means me and my group. That is freedom. I am that kind of Libertarian. Society is me and my group. Everything else is communistic fascism.

in freshman year i was attending classes at an all boy catholic high school
a 'lay' teacher had been hired for English teaching

he deliberately assigned novels filled with language many would consider to be garbage

he explained.....he cannot rewrite the work to suit the parents of students
and the novels were current and given to sharp point

much would be lost for the lack of reading

"White dwarf" (star type)
"White chocolate"

Well, I get it. You won the words and the culture that produces them. As a libertarian you can't allow people they ability to decide how they as a group or individuals how they act.
They are not allowed to be triggered, because that is not what freedom means. I do get it.

Do you get what you are doing?

It happened in various trades in the uk way back when. Such technical terms as ballcock have been replaced with float valve

@Revoltingest, Are you in favor of bringing back into language the common terms I heard in use as a child, which I had no idea the references to at the time?

Examples.

"Hey, he Jewed you out of your lunch money".

"You sure got gypped on that deal!"​

Or, every "unwoke" person's favorite of the childhood rhyme,

"Eenie meenie, miny mo, catch a N* by his toe. If he hollers, let him go!"

Or the referring to Brazil Nuts as "N* toes". Remember that one??

Come on, you have to be in favor of bringing these back too aren't you? Why not? You find the rest of this ridiculous, why not these? You still in favor or using the N word these days?
