Atheists are animals

because of the obvious extreme

only humans.....for cause of the spirit we are.....can BE so extreme

animals mature to an extent and proceed no further

but a human.....
cna put on a suit manmade and fly through a rocky outcropping......thread the needle
put his LIFE at risk
and do so for no more than the reward of doing it

a man can stand to a pulpit and convince so many.....God wants you to (whatever)

a man can stand to a podium and convince so many...I have a plan
I have a dream

a man can stand to a podium ...in uniform.....and lead a nation to war

and a man can lead us to prosperity.....or poverty

no animal can do sooooo much

Few animals can bite with the extreme force of a tiger, a lion, or a wolf. Does that mean tigers, lions, and wolves are not animals? Few animals can lift more times their body weight than ants. Does that mean ants are not animals?

Everything you mentioned, other animals can do to one extent or another. But just because we do those things "better" makes us non-animals in your primate eyes, eh?

Humans are animals. That’s simply a fact by definition.

animals are our equals.....no matter what
we are not greater than animals .....no matter what
That depends entirely on the scale you’re measuring by. We’re not the greatest animal by size, speed, strength, agility etc. We can’t swim or climb especially well and we can’t fly at all. Our eyesight is average, our hearing poor and our sense of smell all but none existent. There are things we are good at, some all but uniquely, but that doesn’t make us overall better than any other species.

oh no you don't.....
you crossed a line

physical attributes can be a point of comparison....
but humans have circumvented those points in so many ways

It is our human form that makes us animals
but it is our form that extends our spirit

no other animal can be human

the quote you clipped was someone else's stand point....that I was describing

Now you're getting boring because you're just repeating yourself. But it was fun while it lasted.

Humans are the least sane species of the great apes.
While that's funny to say that, in many regards I think it's actually true. We are really just a bunch of hyper-neurotic monkeys with over-sized brains. Diminishment of general contentment with life seems to be the first negative effect of being so smart. How many dogs or cats do you know that need psychotherapy to help them untangle the mess of their minds in order to just get a good night's sleep? :)

To say that a human being is a animal is true. We also vertebrates and tetrapods, and members of various other clades. So what? The important thing is whether the description "animal", or even "hominoid" is sufficient. When I see a another hominoid composing a symphony or building a temple, I'll say that it is.

This takes me back to my student days when I wrote a paper on the inadequacy of the physical definition of Homo sapiens — David Pilbeam gave it a A.

Animals are multicellular eukaryotic organisms that form the biological kingdom Animalia. With few exceptions, animals consume organic material, breathe oxygen, are able to move, reproduce sexually, and grow from a hollow sphere of cells, the blastula, during embryonic development.

By definition, yes we are OBVIOUSLY animals. The fact that you have politics, economics, sociability, and the ability to delude yourself into believing there is a god does NOT factor into it.

Yeah and no human can be any other animal. So what?

No matter how much you want to justify this idea in your mind it will never be true. You like all that are posting on this form are animals - it is a biologic reality.

What concerns me it that the attitude you are portraying is the superiority attitude which has created the very crisis that humans face. We are about to cause our own extinction because too many people do not see how interdependent with the rest of life on our planet. To many see the rest of life as below human levels therefore can be treated without respect. We destroy the life that sustains us ruining the land, air and water to satisfy insatiable desires for more. So we take and rarely give back.

Yes technology is amazing and so is our written language but if it not stopping us from destroying the planet that sustains us how good is it really when finally no one can use it? Did it in the long run truly help us or lead to our own destruction.

Recognizing the value, interdependency, beauty and uniqueness of the life we share Earth with is a true gift and once achieved transforms to person into a higher level of consciousness where you no longer need to see yourself as superior but as a part of our wondrous world intimately interconnected all with unique and important aspects.

Although I don't believe Darwin. Yet, I think we are technically animals because we're animated dirt or clay forms after all. According to the scriptures.

That's just my own admittedly odd view of things.

Biologically, we humans are animals. Theologically, that varies from religion to religion.

BTW, do non-human "animals" have "souls" in Christianity? Even though the Bible doesn't say they do, neither does it say they don't. As for me, I don't have an opinion one way or another on this.

If im correct Genesis tells us that animals have souls as well. I have to do a Hebrew word for word study to check the translations.

This is why i also ask why we are killing animals and eating them. In Genesis we did eat from the 'green herbs' (out of the top of my head), both animals and humans.

Well, we are a sort of animal ;)
seems at least one member here insists that we are animals
all of us

animals are our equals.....no matter what
That's a ridiculous claim as obviously we are the only specie that can invent things that do not exist.
That alone makes us a much more sophisticated and adaptive creature.
we are not greater than animals .....no matter what
We are not greater is some senses, but we are in the most important ones ;)
and I posted in return.....
to be no more than animal.....I would need to surrender
my social abilities
Not true, many species are social animals, some have a much more merciful social behaviors than us
my politics
Not true.
Animals that live in social groups have politics similar to many human societies.
The leader of the group is selected by strength, ability to lead, heritage, age etc.
my economics
Not true,
Animals have economics, rather they don't use money, they use resources.
and my .....God
No argue here, although i don't know whats going on in animals heads :)
It seems you skipped the few things you will actually have to surrender:
Your ability to speak (not to confuse with ability to communicate).
Your ability to invent.
Your ability to preserve knowledge regardless without direct observation.
so......redirecting and redrawing the line at hand

are non-believers.....animals?
Non believers are the exact same creatures as you are!
So i guess it depends how you see yourself.
