I was not aware the British had any inferiority complex, though it's pretty clear the Americans have a rather inflated image of themselves. Despite embarrassing (and falling) scores on comparative quality-of-life indices many Americans are still convinced we live in the best country in the world.
As far as the revolution goes, history shows it's awfully difficult to "win" over a popular insurgency, even if you have huge resources and a powerful army. Even so, it was surprising that the colonies managed to oust the British, even with the assistance of France and Spain.
I dated an Englishman once. Very cute, but constantly wanting calf's liver, kidneys, and other stuff fit only for making cat food. The brits have cuisine???

We call it blood pudding. No, thanks.mmmm... Black pudding
Why do you think Americans are the fattest people on earth? For good cooking, look to Italy, Greece, India, and Thailand. On a side note, we could limit ourselves to mcdonalds and burger king etc, we choose not too though
I don't remember the last time I ate at McDonalds or Burger King.On a side note, we could limit ourselves to mcdonalds and burger king etc, we choose not too though

If it makes you feel any better, I'm embarrassed by it.I agree 110%. This jingoistic superiority complex Americans seem to have baffles me to be perfectly honest.

The short answer my kiwi friend is that this is, in fact, the United States of Disneyland and make-believe is always the order of the day.
Something no one can deny is that the U.S. is the undisputed leader in the entertainmant industry and everything we do is for show in one way or another.
You can't argue that we're consistent in providing the world with top-notch entertainment, whether we mean to or not, but I must admit that I can understand why the rest of the world might consider the admission price just as consistently absurd.
We can't help it that we are better than everyone else.
God made us this way.
And this relates to America being a better country how?
The only things you guys are better then the rest of the world about is military, entertainment and the amount of money you have. I won't deny you there. However your government is one of the most corrupt democratic governments in the world, only two parties have any chance of getting in Congress, your healthcare system sucks and your gun laws are incredibly stupid too. It isn't so much that the rest of the world has an inferiority complex as much as the rest of the world is baffled on why such a crappy country is the current ruler of the world. Your culture is one of arrogant jingoism and low attention spans.
However, while Americans are stereotyped as being ignorant about the outside world, you'll find that in most industrialized Western nations. There are as many stupid people in NZ by percentage then in America.
EDIT: On second thought, I think you and I have different ideas of what "better" means. Sure, America is better if you mean superpower-wise. However country-wise your country is seriously lacking.

I hate to encourage you in this kind of thing, but I'm reminded of something P. J. O'Rourke said: "Travel is difficult for Americans because all the smart foreigners moved to the United States years ago."When I say "better" I mean in every conceivable way. We Americans are naturally superior to non-Americans in every way.
The astounding lack of knowledge that you have displayed about America just goes to prove what we already know. I'm an American and I am smarter than you and you don't know anything about America.

My father was American. I've been over there.
How exactly do I know nothing about America? Your gun control laws are stupid (Your death by firearms rate is in the thousands), your healthcare system does suck (Everyone having a right to healthcare, such a silly concept), your government is more corrupt (UN rankings tell me so), only two parties can get in to Congress. As far as I am aware, these are all true.
Now let's compare to my country.
Universal health care (And despite popular notions the right-wing likes to propagate, if you don't like the quality of the care you can just get private health care), we're more democratic then you because more then two parties can get into our parliament (Because unlike America, NZ recognizes that political opinion is not as black and white as liberal and conservative), we're ranked higher in "Least Corrupt Governments" (#1) and our death by firearms rate is incredibly low.
I have just demonstrated ways in which America isn't the best. Please inform me why I'm wrong.
And why, oh why, can't people in America get over scientific fact being taught in schools?
