Ezekiel 18:20
King James Version
20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
James 5:20
King James Version
20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.
If you read my first post it says the soul that sinning will die.And it has a comma,To cut the sentence in half.Notice it doesn't say his or her soul. But the soul it's self will die.And in james it says you can stop a soul from dyeing.By converting a sinner from their sin.
Thanks Frank.
Now I can see from Frank's "eyes".
One says the soul that is sinning will die.
The other says the soul that stops sinning will
not (
@Frank Goad Sorry, forgot the not - edited) die.
That's the same, not opposite.
The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.
Read James carefully, perhaps try another translation.
nwtsty James 5:20
know that whoever turns a sinner back from the error of his way will save
him from death and will cover a multitude of sins.
Just replace him, with that soul.
What is saved from death. Is it not the soul - the person?
We have been through this before a number of times, haven't we?
If you tell yourself the soul is the person, or life of the person, you will understand it, and not be having this problem.
If you tell yourself, I don't want to accept that the soul is the person or the life of the person, but want to believe that there is something mysterious in the body, that can leave the body, and travel, and return, and does not die, your problem will continue, and you will never leave this topic, because you find some fascination with that idea.
What is the sense though of wasting all your time and life, obsessed with one idea, when there are so many things to learn, that lead to knowledge that means life?
If you like what JWs teach, would it not make more sense to try to study as much as you can on what the Bible teaches, so that you can know the truth about God, and how you can gain his approval, and use the precious time you have applying his word, and teaching others truth?
