Black lives matter co-founder says they are trained Marxists.

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
What the hell is a "trained Marxist?" We dont have certified, training, school curriculum or anything like that. Now, with those, they are horribly biased and don't seem to know much about Marxism. Such as how Marxism isn't inhere repressive of Christianity, and Engels felt such being too harsh against would preserve it, spread it, and will only work against the goals of a society without religion.
I dunno. Patrice Cullors never elaborated on her comments yet. At least to my knowledge atm.

I think the left wing in america has barely anyone in the red quadrant anyway, in reality. Unless the rare people in that quadrant somehow were to unite all the people in the green and make them red, which I may have a hard time envisioning

If an individual libertarian happens to be a vegetarian, does that make vegetarianism itself libertarian? Or is libertarianism vegetarian?

It merely makes the individual into a vegetarian, but vegetarianism probably couldn't represent the body politic. A libertarian is disgusted by little. However, I doubt that anyone actually plots onto the bottom right-hand corner endpoint of the political compass. That person would see no reason for any control anywhere

So If you look at the political compass result page that was stickied in this forum area, you will see that most left wingers here are well into the green zone. What that means, is that they value individual liberties. A leftist up in the red zone, puts the state above that. Now I have variously almost tested into that zone - but I do not enter it completely, as I still give the concept of the individual some degree of value. Do you understand how the political compass works?

Yes, I tested out in the lower-left quadrant near Gandhi.

That's probably representative of the vast majority of the left wing people in america, I reckon. A true marxist would test into the red zone, and put the state above your individual liberty. The american left does not seem to like social control, they seem to prefer social freedom

I think the left has all such things interwoven to some extent.

My concern is us sensible centrists losing our backbone against the far left and right.

For the OP, have a reputable source. The first one is a "sports" outlet. That the CPUSA is in favor of BLM is to be expected and so what.

Don't worry about marxism....until it arrives.
If you dislike Trump, you'll love Stalin.
I agree with the first sentence.

Personally an autocrat wannabe is in the same "dislike" area as a fully realized autocrat.

Groucho, Harpo, or Chico (asking for a friend)?

I've butted heads with you @BSM1 more than once, but I loved the question. If you disagree with me, I'll meet you in an affair of honor - creme pies at 10 paces?

Why would I want to convert a quandrant of authoritarianism?

Perhaps you wouldn't since individual liberty is important here, especially on the left. American political tension is mostly between the green quadrant and the blue quadrant, I suppose. However, the red quadrant might hijack the green quadrant, who really knows.. I tend to doubt it though, as long as our individualism reigns

When it comes to red vs green, I am truly very deeply green, however, with that said, I wouldn't say I'm above red tendencies. Such as, I am opposed to Yoder v Wisconsin and all forms of non-medically necessary body modifications on children. I would ensure all children get the education they will need to function in mainstream society so those who leave a religious community arent sunk, it would be required you take you sick child to a doctor and vaccinate, and unless a doctor says it's needed body modifications on children would be outright banned.
And also "soft arm" means of getting results. Such as, religion wouldn't be banned, but reading, thinking, arts, and science would be very promoted with the idea of weakening religion and further redesigning it so it becomes more congruent with secular values.

I was talking with an Armenian man who emigrated from the Soviet Union, and he told me that, when Stalin was in charge, a person could leave his wallet in crowded bar or restaurant and come back 2 hours later and find it in the exact same spot. No one would dare touch it. They had very effective crime control, far better than these Republican "law and order" types could ever dream.

Sir, I will have my second contact your second for the details. However, since the challenge was yours, I do believe I have the choice of flavors.

Good, that's plenty green.. I think we should hope it stays like that, and hopefully I'm not kidding myself about it staying green or being generally green.. And I say this as someone who can be more towards the red

Where has it been practiced in principle and not in name? (Even Lenin said Marx wasn't that big of an influence) Where are said to have practiced it, its kind if like Christians claiming to be Jews.
Nothing is pure....go with what's tried, & actually existed.
