Victims of Communism

North Korea is not "communism". It's a totalitarian dictatorship.

I don't think that an analysis of the Juche system and ideology is the subject of this thead. I think it's supposed to talk about the horrible state of human rights in North Korea and the courage and luck needed to escape such a terrible place which this man had in plenty apparently.

Academic definitional blather. The Korean man calls his nation Communist, which he knows better than we armchair experts.
Here in the USA Republicans called Obama a Communist quite often.

Doesn't mean it's true. North Korea is demonstrably not Communist or the state would be withering away. Nor is it a "Democratic Republic". Just because someone says something doesn't make it true.

Spreading and maintaining ignorance doesn't help anyone, anywhere. N. Korea is a totalitarian state. It's no more a "commune" than a prison is.

Read the links I offered and then think about what Bukovsky wrote & discovered in the Soviet archives.

Right - so the CCP, Chinese Communist Party is also a misnomer. When will they learn the proper terminology.

They don't want to be called Juche or Maoist. They want to be called communists, because at the time those names were picked, communism was very popular and well seen. It's for the same reason national-socialists called themselves socialist even though they killed and imprisonned them. It's propaganda. The Lord's Resistance Army isn't some sort of freedom fighter organisation they are the Christian version of ISIS. Names aren't what you are; they are what you want people to think you are.

A Commie by any name would smell as foul.

Same difference. Communism is totalitarian at its rotten core.
