So we get a new spiritual body but we retain the same personality we had in this life and we pick up where we left off in this life. The only difference is that nothing is physical, not our body or our surroundings.
I agree that we will be able to pick up where we left off in this life, but that our bodies and surroundings will be physical. So i should be able to finish the work on my shed and then maybe build a pole barn and get some horses. And i'll have unlimited time to get good on my guitar. There's lots of evidence in the Bible pointing to a physical afterlife.
The Christian Bible went to some lengths to describe a physical building that we will live in for a time. Streets made of pure gold, gates of pearl and walls of precious stone. Fifteen hundred miles square. The Father's house has many rooms. They seemed to go to some lengths to let us know that we wouldn't just be wispy spirits floating around in a disembodied world.
When Jesus was about to cast out some demons, they would rather be put into a heard of swine than to go back to the disembodied spirit world.
And when Jesus ate His last meal with his disciples, He told them that He wouldn't drink of the fruit of the vine until He drank it new with them in His Father's kingdom. Spirits don't drink physical wine right?
And when Jesus was resurrected, He spent 40 days with the disciples. He ate and drank and invited them to touch Him and feel His wounds.
So i don't know what we're going to be, but i bet it's going to be awesome. I'd bet you any money.
“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” - 1 Corinthians 2:9
