Again???

I'd love to make bets for large sums of money with all of these "rapture" predicting idiots about whether the world will end on whatever day they say it will. Then again I'm not so sure that that would be entirely ethical.....or legal.:tearsofjoy:

If its ok for prosperity gospel preachers to take advantage of gullible religious folk, why not you?

Obviously :D you have a very narrow viewpoint.

But, yes, building homes for widows living in wood huts, wells, clean water, medicine, education, clothing food... and "sharing the love of Jesus".

Do you go on trips to help those in third world countries?

If I were retired with the funds and no family obligations, sure? Would depend on the org.

But anyway, good on you for volunteering your time for the less fortunate, I mean that (as long as you're not "you must accept our Lord into your heart before you can accept our food into your stomach.").

Ok, So someone is predicting the end again (well sort of). Anyway ,this fellow is once again setting a date for the Rapture, April 23. We should really talk about this on April 24. What do these people not get about Jesus saying no one knows the time ,only God knows. (paraphrased of course).

World to end on April 23 according to numerologist

Well dang. I'm spending the day at Disneyland with my daughters on the 23. I should be grateful, I suppose, that my mom's 90th B-day is tomorrow, though, so we can celebrate it first.

I'm with you, though...what is it with these people who keep making predictions like this, that don't actually end up happening?

Though I think there is/was one group that predicted this event, and then when the rest of the world missed it, said that it was our fault that we didn't notice.

Hey religion isn't exempt from nutty. I have posted here that the end of revelations clearly states "do not add or remove a single word". I think It was old school "hey if they try and interpret they are nuts test".

If revelations said at the beginning "if ye, interprets thou shalt be cast into hell", and then that statement was followed by a series of paintings people would still interpret it and write books about it regardless. I actually.have jungs red book which is similar in many ways.

Ahhhhhh, good ole Revelations... A book written while someone was tripping hard

In a letter to General Alexander Smyth dated January 17, 1825 Jefferson wrote that he

considered it (Revelations) as merely the ravings of a maniac, no more worthy nor capable of explanation than the incoherences of our own nightly dreams. I was, therefore, well pleased to see, in your first proof sheet, that it was said to be NOT the production of St. John, but of Cerinthus, a century after the death of that apostle.

Yet the change of the author's name does not lessen the extravagances of the composition; and come they from whomsoever they may, I cannot so far respect them as to consider them as an allegorical narrative of events, past or subsequent. There is not coherence enough in them to countenance any suite of rational ideas. You will judge, therefore, from this how impossible I think it that either your explanation or that of any man in 'the heavens above, or on the earth beneath,' can be a correct one.

What has no meaning admits no explanation; and pardon me if I say, with the candor of friendship, that I think your time too valuable, and your understanding of too high an order, to be wasted on these paralogisms. You will perceive, I hope, also, that I do not consider them as revelations of the Supreme Being, whom I would not so far blaspheme as to impute to Him a pretension of revelation, couched at the same time in terms which, He would know, were never to be understood by those whom they were addressed.”

Note to all. It's 'Revelation' singular. Not 'Revelations'. :D

LOL! Revelation - Revelations, still the ravings of a madman having a bad trip.

You call the book of Revelation a madman having a bad trip.
Do you always criticze what you don't understand.
Had you any idea why God uses Locust, Scorpions, beasts. To reprsent people, Nations and kingdoms of world powers.

Then the book of Revelation becomes clearly to understand, but instead people will criticze what they don't understand.

Yes definitely tripping hard. And wisdom by Jefferson. But I don't think it was ever meant to be interpreted according the author(s). It does give us an interesting view how we can project onto text though. That part is curious to me.

Growing up a Christian, I read Revelation so many times trying to understand what the heck it means.

Then I read lots of books and other voluminous commentary on it written by various other Christian apologists trying to make sense of it. After reading all the interpretations of it I was even more confused.

I'm with Thomas Jefferson who I quoted earlier...

meaning that there IS no meaning to be gleaned from the reading of it.

It is, simply put, the ravings of a maniac.

Wise he was, for sure. TJ is one of my top 5 favorite Founders, the others being Paine, Madison, Adams, and Franklin.

Not sure I understand what you're curious about... Do you think I'm projecting? If so, explain.

Maybe if you used Icing Death and Twinkle you could cut into something we could understand.

Not when you understand how Locust operate and how Scorpions operate.

When you understand who the beasts all represents.

When God uses all these things, God trying to get people to think, using their brain. God not going to spell everything out. Not when people have a brain to think with.

Go search out how Locust operate and how Scorpions operate. Then you might get your answer about the book of Revelation.
Note also that Beasts represents Nations of the world.
Also a beast represents Satan.

Read Revelation 17:15, this will tell you that
Water, seas, oceans, fountains of water all Represents kingdoms, and Nations and people and Multitudes of people.
In the book of Revelation.

Let's take Revelation 8:9--"And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died, and the third part of the ships were destroyed"

Now let's break this all down.
The creatures are people, the sea represents Nations and people.

The ships were destroyed, this represents the world's Commerce Trade Center of the world, being broken down.

And had life died, This being because of the world Commerce Trade Center breaking down, people out of work, not being able to buy food are now starving for food.
Then in Revelation 13:3--"And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death, and his deadly wound was healed, and all the world wondered after the beast"

This being the world Commerce Trade Center, being healed, At this time the beast, this being the New World Order under one world Government system. Comes together and healed the deadly wound of the world Commerce Trade Center.

Then in Revelation 13:4--"And they worshipped the dragon ( Satan) which gave power unto the beast ( the one world Government system) and they (people) worshipped the beast ( One world Government system) Saying, Who is like unto the beast ( one world Government system) who is able to make war with him"

No one is able to make with him, because this One world Government system Controls all the Military of the world. So one is able to make war with him, seeing the New World Order Government system contrCon all the Military of the world.

That is your interpretation, still as nonsensical as any other persons I've read over the years.

Why waste your time trying to make sense of something so silly?

I have a story about a young man who wandered into.church because he was at a party sharing a.joint and they said to him go to church if you want.to start a business. Well this was a weird church a Quaker church. An hour of silence each week. He got to know them and thought they were decent.folk quakers mind you. No bible reading with them really. So one Sunday thus young dude decided hey I.might try this thing.for a month or so. Suddenly out of no where he was hit in.the head with what felt like a lighting bolt. After service he staggered.outside and the landscape.was.light up like a super saturated van gogh painting. That concept, idea, abstract became an experience. Well he thought what the hell he recognized it was neurology he wasn't completely stupid, but that begged the question what is the causality. So he decided hey this place must know what's going on with this experience. So he pivoted at the threshold that day, and turned his back on.the landscape went inside sat down and began.to try understand. Well he found the text hard part confusing and explanations confusing. He doubled down And went to college and got a degree in theology. But he was even.more confused than when he started..
That confusion was something he tried to to fix but it grew worse over time. Well it almost killed him. He had made a huge mistake and that was listening to others talk about something they don't understand. The confusion WAS his in listening to.then. eventually he got it right but boy it was a long journey for one second and one inch.

Years and years later he found himself on a mountain and there it happened. It took him many many years to understand what he needed to understand..as he began to shift out into the landscape his perspective he had the worst experience imaginable for him. The landscape itself revealed the new testament as true. Not as church understands it. He felt absolutely screwed because he realized his biggest hurdle was the faith. But that's how it goes you see. I
