I can't count the number of times I have heard on this forum that the Dem's do not want your firearms. Well guess that has just been found to be a false statement. Seems that the Illinois House just passed a law (65-41) that:
"Possession of assault-style weapons by anyone under 21 would be illegal under legislation that the Illinois House endorsed.

The plan sponsored by Democratic Rep. Michelle Mussman of Schaumburg would prohibit minors from buying or possessing high-capacity weapons, attachments, .50-caliber rifles and cartridges. They would have 90 days to transfer ownership."

Whose taking weapons? That’s called a reasonable restriction. Their mommy can still buy them their favorite assault weapon for Christmas unless they make that illegal too.

This idea has been kicked around for awhile, right? I know raising the age to 21 has been in the press since Florida.

They're not banning guns, they've just raised the minimum age to buy certain types of guns. It's no different than when Hawaii raised the minimum age for smoking to 21 or when all the states increased the drinking age to 21. You can still do it, you just have to wait a couple more years.
This is not even close to taking people's guns.

Did you read HB1465?

The way I read the above says that if you are under the age of 21 the possession of the highlighted is prohibited.
How say you now

It's still not a ban. You just can't have one till you're 21. People under 21 who have one can simply transfer ownership to someone over 21 (like their dad or older brother/sister) until they're of age.

Now, of course the inevitable court challenge may well result in the "possession" part being ruled unconstitutional, but the sale part is in no way a 2nd Amendment violation.

What specific history has repeated itself?

The death of many Americans due to gun violence year after year or the tyrannical US government subjugating its citizens?

Well, there was a time in the civil rights movement where armed non-civilians shot unarmed civilians that were marching. And I believed that was fixed not by guns but by actual discussion.

Anything else you can mention?
No. Just that history repeats itself.

It should be adjusted where under 21 may handle and discharge firearms as long as they are accompanied by a person 21 or older.

I would be okay with this as a compromise. The key to me is purchasing and ownership.

Nice scare headline trying to stir up people's emotions with false and misleading charges. It's just part of the NRA lie machine.

But how about applying the machine gun laws to this class of weapons?

The way I'm reading it, unless your at an age when your more likely to be fully and completely developed--with the brain taking the longest--you don't get such high powered weaponry.
