While I understand the "gun owner" one (despite my disagreement with the sentiment) I don't necessarily get the "Republican" one.

I don't particularly find it offensive though. Do you? Why?

I'm not really one who get offended, but I do find it to be very audacious, impudent, and asinine. I'm not aware of any republicans or gun owners hiding in attics or dying in concentration camps.

I'm not sure I can clarify it more than I have, but....
The text you wanted me to read is the opinion of the person who wrote it.
It does not appear to be from the company selling the patches.
So it does not necessarily represent the intent of the seller.

It is not his opinion. It is how he uses it.

And yet you were completely unaware, at first, of the connection between embroidered stars of David and Nazi concentration camps (despite explicitly acknowledging the connection of the symbol to Judaism)?
Calm down.
We may each have our different first impressions upon seeing the patches.
Yours is important to you, & you're disturbed by mine....get over it.

What? Me worry?
Woah there. Now I certainly am not offended by this. And even I can recognize the difference between someone saying x shouldn't be allowed to say this, and x is an idiot for saying this. I think the tone here is of the latter. So free speech is an issue how?

You noticed I didn't use names...

I'm not disturbed, I'm fascinated. I'm just wondering how an educated person can see an embroidered star of David and not immediately get the connection to Nazi concentration camps.

So let me get this straight. It seems most people responding in an offended manner can condone -- in defense of free speech, of course -- every vile, disrespectful, obscene, and downright threatening act, sign, or gesture that those on the left throw out there but this knots their knickers? Go figure.

When did I say they shouldn't be allowed to sell their silly badges? Do you disagree that comparing themselves to the Jewish victims of Nazi Germany is a bit off base?

I had no idea this subject was of the third rail variety.
Jewish stars.....gun rights...Republicans....The Holocaust....
I'll now know better when to tread lightly.

The real problem is that so many posters are alerting me
to their responses that I'm losing track of them all. So if
I ignore anyone's, it's likely due to oversight.

Hold on. How many times have Republicans or their leaders been referred to as "Nazis?" It is a similar concept. People do not make Hitler references to associate someone with vegetarianism.

Yep. Who's to say what is and what isn't over the line any more? BTW, do you feel that comparing Trump to the Nazi's is also a "...bid off base..."?

I know, right? No one said that the stupid badges should be banned, only that they attempt to draw a ridiculous comparison. Such a comical knee-jerk reaction.

Of course comparing the republicans to the nazis is an extreme exaggeration, but comparing yourself to victims of the holocaust just because people question your political views is beyond the pale.
