That happened thousands of years before these prophecies were even thought of... Most of the things predicted already happened before Islam was founded (historical perspective, not from an Islamic perspective).

The world wont end soon.

In our view, there is no such a thing as the End of the World. But there was a concept in every religion, which is called the End of Age (in Hinduism), and The Last Day or Last Hour in Abrahamic Religions, which we believe has already passed.
Some of the signs of the last of the Age or Last Day which is given in Bible and Quran:

- The Sun and Moon Are Darkened: To us this happened in middle of Nineteenth Century when the World was empty from spirituality as Two World War happened, and there was a lot of superstitions in the World. (Sun and Moon have figurative meaning IOV)

- The stars fall: To us the stars were the religious leaders, which in the sight of God are fallen, and are not giving guidance anymore.

- Two Trumpets blows: IOV, trumpets represent the revelations of God, and these two trumpet calls happened with revelation of the Bab and Baha'u'llah.

- The Dead is Reusurrected: IOV this was coming of guidance from God, to resurrect the spiritually Dead.

Likewise ALL signs of the End of Age has passed IOV.

Even the year can be calculated from the verses of Quran and the Bible both corresponds to the year of appearance of the Bab and Baha'u'llah.

For thousands of years, various religions have declared "the end is near". I suppose as long as someone is still saying it, they may eventually get it right.

Kind of like a different person walking up to a tree every year for hundreds of years. Each one declaring the tree will fall that year.
At least one will get it right.

Mayan calendar runs out in December, which coincides with the 11 year cycle of Solar maximum. Super-EMP in the form of a solar flare wipes out all technology. Anarchy, starvation, no more internet prawn. Mass hysteria. Dogs and cats living together. Mel Gibson wears football pads and saves... um... the highway from... um... that guy from the Cure and his shiny silver boyfriend.

I'm sure we'll pull through thoroughly, though. Thoughts?

Not so far fetched: Report: Chance of a Catastrophic Solar Storm Is 1 in 8; Would Take Down Power Grid, Food Transportation, Water Utilities, Financial Systems

The end of the world doesn't sound all bad.

Yeah, its kinda funny I like to watch those 'end of the world' shows on H2 and what not and I never really gave them much credence. I just like to laugh at the insane distant dots that these people like to connect.

Then the other day I was watching a Science Channel show about the sun which had absolutely nothing to do with doomsday stuff and they were talking about the solar maximum and how its supposed to reach its peak in December of 2012. I still think its a bit of a coincidence but that doesn't negate how devastating a solar maximum can be. There was one back in like the 1600s that supposedly had auroras all the way down in Greece and Italy. There is no telling what kind of havoc something like that might cause to our modern technology. I really think we'll be fine, overall, but it might take a bit to restore order and what not. In any case, I'm going to stock up on bottled water and make sure my already existent earthquake supplies are maxed out. That's just good practice anyway ;)

Jesus in me
Global warming.

My bet is on a nice big asteroid scheduled to give us a brush in 2040. It fits the prediction of a global conflagration, earthquake and cracks in the mantle that alow continents to move. Such a jolt could even change the poles. The suggestion is made in the Bible that the best way to survive is to hide in a cave. (That is if a person isn't raptured)

True that is only a sign that a civilzation is crumbling. The Roman civilization was a prime example.
Romans never believed homosexuality was wrong. You have misread my statement.

Also, unless you can prove the link between the two, you are simply confusing correlation with causation.

I'm almost certain that's the sentiment behind such predictions. But I could be projecting, since I remember back when I would look forward to the Rapture with baited breath. Not that I would object to being caught up in the Lord's Divine embrace in an uber-literal way, but the entire world doesn't have to end just for that to happen! :D

Among the list that you provided, in fact one of them IOV, correctly prophecised.

That was in 1844 by William Miller. I fact Baha'i Faith revelation took place in 1844. But IMV, poor William Miller and his followers, although did a good calculation, but didn't know that it really happend in Persia!

Yes, I am aware that the Baha'i believe that 1844 represented the Second Coming through the Bab.
