Why would God send good people to Hell just because they dont believe he exists?

Lord_Dweedle

Call me Dweedle :)
Im going to get straight to the point.

I am no Athiest. I believe there IS a higher power but I do not believe he is as wrathful as most Church's make him/her out to be.

What gets me angry about alot of Church's is that unless you follow their particular way of worship you will go to hell. What kind of rubbish is this? I thought Jesus taught people to love thy neighbor not judgeing them on Race or Religion? Or am I wrong here?

Nearly all people who participate in Church are very Judgemental, I have been told numerous times by Christians I will go to Hell if I dont change my ways..

I Don't Smoke
I Don't Gamble
I Do Partake in Alcohol but I Don't get drunk or drink to get drunk
I am a Virgin so no Sex either
I do not commit crimes

I guess they judge me wicked because I don't go to Church?
But why should I go to Church? How does going to Church make me more good?

I think God doe's Exist but I dont believe he will send people to Hell (If that place even exists) simply for " not believing in him " or not following a specific Church's practice.

Heres a Scenario.
(None of this is real it is made up as an example)

Jeff is a 43 year old man with 3 Kids aged 3,9 and 16 and a 39 year old Wife named Brenda.

Jeff is driveing home from work on a rainy night and a Truck who is driveing too fast lose's control and Smashes into Jeff's car. Killing him Instantly.

The Driver of the Truck is Arrested, Trialed and Sent to Prison for Manslaughter.

Jeff was a loveing Husband and Father and a great Friend to many.

Jeff was involved in many Charitys and raised lots of money to help Kids with disabilitys.

Jeff was an Athiest and did not believe in any god.

Uh Oh! Jeff did not believe God existed! Any Church Zealot would condemn him to Hell for this ungodly Sin...

My point is I cannot imagine God saying this.

Jeff. " But im not a Bad Person! ive made mistakes in life like a normal Human being but ive given most of my life to help people! "

God. " To bad you didn't believe in me so now you will burn in Hell for all Eternity "

I don't bother with this argument anymore.

I subscribe to the belief that I'm not God and God will decide what happens to me when it's my time to go. In faith, I'm believing that I'm going to return to Him, because that's where my heart is.

I can't justify shaming people for their view on the afterlife. Sometimes I wish we'd all just shut up and live in love and lead by example as opposed to jumping up on self righteous pedestals because not one of us is truly worthy of a self righteous pedestal.

Edit: I mean that as a general statement, of course. Not as a statement directed at anyone in particular.

All I can say is no one knows what god wants or does not want if he even exist at all which is a big if.

All we know is what people imagined 2000-3000 years ago when most adults were afraid of the dark because scary things come out! and demons and deity's were springing up on every corner.

The god is the bible is a jealous god who in a bat of a childish eye commited genocide and wiped out not just every inoccent man woman and child but heck he even wiped out the animals and fish to! Theres no rational thought tied with soemthing that could be that cold so if he does exist all bets are off.

My opinion is the bible is a good guide for the living and its not ment to be read into so hard, used as a science book nor to be feared to force belief.

I don't care if you or any other Christian wants to express themselves, just don't try to ram your beliefs into places they don't belong.

Oh yes, welcome to the site Lord_Dweedle. Glad to have you on board

I'm not one who shoves my beliefs. I agree. Choking religion down the throats of your neighbors is pointless...

And yes, welcome to the site, Lord_Dweedle.

The point is. He's in charge not us. So while we might say this isn't right, but there a possibility that he will send joe to hell and there's not a ******* thing we can do about it.
Or even worse, there is no heaven. And after you spend your hell on here, you'll go to the other hell for eternity.

Why would God send people to Hell for being Good Caring Decent people?

Who am I to say whose name makes it into "the book of life?"God is going to hold a fair and equitable means of justice at the time of the "millenium". This is a period of great learning and enlightenment for people at the second coming of Jesus. In revelations we read that "books will be opened" and "the court will be seated" -these are referring to this time of great fairness so, the notion that God is just going to "throw someone in the lake of fire" without a chance,is not the God I have come to know for certainand He will not operate that way . . .
Remember that God is going to judge His very own Beloved Children(us) and He has stated time and time again how He desires that ALL come to the knowledge of God and that ALL are saved and NOT destroyed . .Jeremiah 29: "I know the plans I have for you says the Lord-plans to PROSPER you and not to HARM you, plans to give you hope and a future."
God can and will forgive whomever He desires to and He has a great desire that ALL of us live a "life more abundant" .. So, try to understand that God doesn't operate on a par as lowly as Mans-He is supreme and Has made many good promises that greatly benefit people (His very own children)

I don't believe He sends anybody to hell for not believing in Him. For God, it has no benefit or harm to believe or disbelieve in Him.

I think for older ages, when humanity was at the 'child stage', He guided people by fear of hell, so, people may follow the Commandments.

For the age of maturity that we live in, the literal interpretation of a physical hell doesn't make sense anymore to a lot of people.

Although, developing spirituality is required for life of spirit after death, just as developing, eye, ear and etc, are important when we are in the womb.

You have about got it right friend !
God's final Judgement rests on Truth - on whether we have accepted it and what decisions we make BASED ON HIS WORD.
No one is condemned without hearing the Truth Joh.8v32.
Neither is there eternal torment in hell-fire for sinners for they will burn up and become ashes. Mal.4v3

Why would God choose to give us the capability for moral judgement if it was never meant to be used?

I always used to ask this question - even now I still don't understand how people can consider this God a loving one.

Every time I have asked about good people going to Hell, the only answer I see to get is that people aren't good, they are 'sinners'. Which I don't agree with at all.

But, if you say you don't believe in the Christian God - then ignore what people say. I still find it shocking when I hear the naive and uncaring things that some Christians say and it often makes me glad that I don't believe in this God. From what I have found, I don't get a good answer for this question, so I have given up trying to ask about it. If people bring it up, I will give my opinion, but for most of the time I ignore it. I am just glad I don't believe that good, kind and caring people will suffer for eternity for something as simple as not believing in a God who says he is loving, yet tortures people.

It's an issue I will never understand. I always think that the people who claim to be good Christians and then judge others themselves aren't clear of the teachings of Jesus at all, so I don't take it to heart.

do you need God?

I mean, can you handle matters by your self without God?

If so, in the hereafeter , do you think you may handle by your self and avoid Hell.

The concept of the Abrahamic God has not been thought through properly, and is based on books written approximately 2000 years before we had the concepts needed to understand the psychology of such a being. Because of this, the image of God has been skewed infeasibility far towards being human, which leads to contradictions such as punishment for inconsequential "sins."

OneThatGotAway

Servant of Yahweh God Almighty
God does not punish people to hell who have never had the opportunity to believe in Him. People who believe such lies have not known God and probably have never read both the Jewish and Christian Bibles. Many babies and children did not have the chance to know and believe in God; and yet God said that His Kingdom belongs to them. Now how is that possible for children? Could it be that God is loving and just to reveal Himself to them in the next life? (Yes.) If he do it for innocent children, will He not do it for innocent men and women?

Have you not read from three eye-witnesses in the Holy Messianic Scriptures of what the Jewish Saviour of Mankind said?:

"But when [YAHUSHUO] saw [it], he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the Kingdom of God [YAHWEH]." ---- Mark 10:14 KJV

"But [YAHUSHUO] said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the Kingdom of [YAHWEH]. ---- Holy Book of MatithYahu 19:14

"But [YAHUSHUO] called them [unto him], and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God [YAHWEH]. ---- Holy Book of Luke 18:16

However, the following people will be cast in the Lake of Fire (i.e. Hell):

"And the Devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the Beast and the False Prophet [are], and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever." ---- Holy Book of Revelation 20:10

"And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death."
"And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." ---- Holy Book of Revelation 20:14-15

Now I ask you all these three question:
1) Will God be justified in sending the above individuals to hell?
2) If not, then what is the justification for not sending the above individuals to hell? :sarcastic
3) Who should stay and who should go? :run:

Evidently the whole Hell Heaven thing is what we British call the Carrot and the Stick method of coercement.

Hell is the Stick..incidently.

So to me its a very suspicious idea...doesnt feel at all spiritual...feels very human.

Accept an article of faith and you go to blissful heaven or you burn in utter agony/go to purgatory etc.

That logic is what basically ended my Catholic beliefs when I was aged about 10.

One common error that you have fallen into is that you fail to consider the context of that prophecy. Had you read the entire chapter 31 of the Book of Jeremiah; then you would have known that YAHWEH is talking only about his beloved Yishrael and Yahudah (Judah); and all the flesh of the twelve tribes of Yaokob (Yishrael) of that time period only. He did not spoke of all the flesh of the sons of Aedam (mankind). He did not even speak of all the flesh of Yishrael in previous generations; but ONLY to the sons of Yishrael for that time period when that prophecy is fulfilled.

Therefore, I refer back to my former three (rhetorical) questions for answers. God did not tell a lie. And the prophet of the Holy Book of Revelation did not lie either. Face it: Somebody's is going to the Lake Of Fire with the Devil and his demons.
