Such brilliance.:sarcastic

Unintentional

All good things come from God, death is the result of the sin and the fall. I am truly amazed at the brilliance...
I notice a pattern with you.
When you are all out of clever things to say, you resort to this type of non-response.
Sad really.
I would have thought you would have at least lasted three of four go rounds before you tucked tail and ran.

actually there is a sence of morality in animals.

Pack and herd structure is based on strict hierarchy and often have strict "laws".

In many wasps and ants you can highly developed "laws" and those that are caught breaking them by thier sisters are killed.
Morality is vital to a social species. Humans included. It isn't unique to us though... sorry.

Animals do what they do by their nature. Man often does what he is taught and often according to his free will. It is because we can choose, that there is murder, rape and child molestation. In the coming Kingdom of God there will be no free will and no sin. Some people prefer a world without murder, rape, etc. Those who like murder, rape and such will not be in the Kingdom.

  • (Isaiah 45:7, KJV) - "I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things."
  • (Amos 3:6) - "Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?"

Animals choose to obey the rules of their society or not. They are not robots.
There are no preprogramed 'evil' animals, just like there are no preprogramed 'evil' humans.

Ps, I never thought I'd hear a loss of free will touted as a good thing.

Agreed, sometimes I think people should watch are animal brothers and sister a little bit more closely.

Golly, ain't argumentum ad ignorantiam grand!

I'm just so confused. Who can be expected to negotiate the tough seas of moral dilemma here??
  • abortion vs eating a steak
  • abortion vs miscarriage
  • bible verses cited out of context vs in context (hm, isn't content without context just pretext?)
this thread reminds me of a favorite old chant: "War is Peace; Freedom is Slavery; Ignorance is Strength."

amen.

I am amazed to hear you say that you are in favor of having a world full of wars, murder, rape and torture.

That's the way the world has all was been get use to it ok. Rather have a world like this then a world of slavery of some self-proclaimed one true God.

Life begets death and death begets life. Chaos is the fuel of creation. Something must always be destroyed for something to be created.
Nature is harsh. It is unforgiving. The weak die or are killed by the strong. Life feeds on life. Even the strictest vegan is a plant killer.

I disagree with this, at least to an extent.

I believe free will is essential to any loving relationship, and that is why God gave us free will in the first place, and He is not going to suddenly take it away in the kingdom to come. If He chose not to make us robots the first time around, why would He make us robots in our glorified bodies? Even the angels have free will----otherwise Satan wouldn't exist.

The difference I believe will not be that we won't have free will, but that we will be so completely transformed to the image and glory of Christ that we won't want to choose evil. Jesus, when He walked this earth, faced just as many temptations as we do, but He was able to still remain sinless. So it will be with us one day. We won't be robots----we will simply be so transformed to the image and character of Jesus that sinning will become a thing of the past. Plus, by that time the great Tempter, Satan, and all his legions, will be burning to a crisp in hell and unable to tempt us.

ah yes. better to embrace sorrow, misery and death. after all, they are your central reality.

Go ahead. Be a 'realist' and hate God like Nietzsche - and you are likely to wind up like him.

"A Christian's sorrow is peripheral, while joy is central to his existence.
An atheist's sorrow is central, while joy is peripheral to his existence.
Why? Because for the Christian, the four central philosophical questions have been answered. Not so for the atheist." - Ravi Zacharias

You don't know me vary well do you, I maybe a realist, never thought of that. But to say I hate God is just so stupid, I don't hate God, but I don't really care for "your" God. This is the way the world had been and even the Gods themselves have lived in it or still are. Bless you me friend:shout

Slavery?

The only slavery I see is the slavery of man to sin. Jesus came to set the captives free, to release them from the bondage of sin. And sin is why the world is as bad as it is.

So give me the one true God anyday. :D

You may go to him, I just find the whole bowing and submitting yourself to a being just because something tell you it the end all be all just....well....not me.

Yup.

"Every knee shall bow, every tongue confess, that Jesus Christ is Lord" - the idea is as much of an offense to humans now as it was to those who wanted to crucify him.

It is an offense because the acknowledgement of our debt and our depth of depravity, our bondage and our need for salvation, lead us to the only tenable position before God: humility. And this is the one thing human pride finds most repugnant, the idea of bowing  the knee, of acknowledging one's bankruptcy and inability to save ourselves.

Jesus came to set the captives free, to release them from the bondage of sin. And sin is why the world is as bad as it is.

So give me the one true God anyday. :D

Amen.

perhaps you can see why the assumption was made. (btw, do you realize how pretentious it appears to say things like "I don't hate God, but I don't really care for "your" God")

anyway thanks for the blessing.

I do not hate god but I don't think god gave us free will and intelligence so that we could throw them away and just blindly do as we are told.
other wise we would be little more than puppets... and I think to highly of god to think he just wants a bunch of puppets running around praising him with empty souls.

well that's interesting, i must have missed something.

did someone SAY God wants us to

  • throw away our intelligence
  • throw away our free will
  • blindly do as we are told
  • be stupid
  • have no free will
  • be puppets
  • praise him with empty souls
sounds like what we have here is a failure to communicate.

I don't know what you have been responding to but I have been talking about this quote

In the coming Kingdom of God there will be no free will and no sin.
*emphasis mine

perhaps we got our wires crossed?
