How? People are still superstitious. People still believe things that are not evident or "factual".I say yes, simply because it stops people from believing things they do not have good evidence for.
No. We'd still have other ways to screw each other over, nationalism, racism, partisanship, etc.
Religion isn't always to blame.
I don't know. Maybe. Religious groups have historically been the first to operate charities and the like. And even though psychology/psychiatry are really great, religions were often there first to console and comfort. However there are religious groups such as St Jude's that do wonders for people.
Without religion would others step up and do the same?
I never said that. Putting hope in something that has no good reason to believe in it is not real hope. When you discover there is not a good reason to believe in God then the hope turns to emotional trauma. So taking away hope is a good thing?
I agree. They should not do that. How? People are still superstitious. People still believe things that are not evident or "factual".

I would suppose people live without hope. Most all religious people have hope. Getting rid of religion gets rid of their hope.
