Why I think Donald Trump should not be impeached

Here's why... Because Joe Biden is only a 'potential' nominee, and therefore is not an active political rival.

Joe biden is currently unemployed, and is not a democratic nominee for the presidency.

He should have no special protections.

I suspect impeachment will be good for Trump's campaign as it will support his narrative against the Democrats.

Bad for the country to set a presidence for this type of political coup when the opposing party has the votes in congress. BEst path forward IMO is to seek compromise in policy. However since few seem to have any interest in compromise, we're screwed. Each party will need to seek complete control of the government to get anything done.

I reckon President Trump also did nothing wrong in wanting Joe Biden's son who was paid millions of dollars by the guy who allegedly embezzled millions of dollars from Ukraine, which received millions upon millions of dollars in U.S. foreign aid be investigated by U.S. as well as by Ukrainian authorities..

HUH? This makes less than zero sense.

...It does?

Perhaps we can agree that it makes sense for our P.O.T.U.S. wanting Joe Biden's son who was paid millions of dollars by the guy who allegedly embezzled millions of dollars from Ukraine, which received millions upon millions of dollars in U.S. foreign aid to be investigated by U.S. as well as by Ukrainian authorities..

Save for partisan politics, we should not purse criminal charges against our P.O.T.U.S. for merely wanting Joe Biden's son who was paid millions of dollars by the guy who allegedly embezzled millions of dollars from Ukraine, which received millions upon millions of dollars in U.S. foreign aid to be investigated by U.S. as well as by Ukrainian authorities..

Since you apparently missed it, it wasn't' "merely wanting...investigated." Trump is being accused of withholding aid to Ukraine unless they complied.

There was nothing done wrong with the brief withholding of U.S. foreign aid to Ukraine in order to strongly express and greatly emphasize the President's concerns regarding Ukrainian meddling in the U.S. 2016 Presidential election.

Then why would we pursue any sort of accusations or criminal charges against anyone?

Honestly, nobody can pursue charges unless a crime was committed. And it's taking months to decide on whether a crime actually even occurred in the first place.

Seems some are desperate for there to have been a crime -even if it's not obvious, or even meaningful.

I think they'd try to impeach Trump on Jay walking if they could.

Impeachment isn't a criminal charge, however. Merely an accusation. And according to Lindsey Graham you don't have to actually break the law to be impeached.

Will he have to step down as president if he's impeached like Nixon?

Nixon wasn't impeached. He resigned because it's very likely he would have been impeached and removed from office. However, no president who has been impeached (there's been two of them) have been removed from office. That's a separate vote that the Senate holds. So, if Trump is impeached, much like Bill he probably won't be leaving office.

Oh, I see. Thanks for the explanation.

...I don't follow the Trump impeachment stuff, like a lot of other people do.
