What would the world look like if...

Brendan ben David

Human Being
If the world were to become a utopia (ie. a perfect society) sometime in the future what would it look like? And what changes would have had to have been made in order to make it happen?

Taking into account culture, politics, beliefs, economics, technology, etc.

Prophet

breaking the statutes of my local municipality
The wolf will live with the lamb,
the leopard will lie down with the goat,
the calf and the lion and the yearling together;
and a little child will lead them.
The cow will feed with the bear,
their young will lie down together,
and the lion will eat straw like the ox.
The infant will play near the cobra’s den,
and the young child will put its hand into the viper’s nest.
They will neither harm nor destroy
on all my holy mountain,
for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the LORD
as the waters cover the sea.
-Isaiah 11:6-9

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people sharing all the world

It'd be a society with varying ideas. is Utopia objective or subjective? can there be an objective utopia that everyone can agree on? Probably not. At least in whole.

It would be exactly the same as it is now.

Alternatively, the universe would cease to exist.

In a utopia there probably would not be politics, first of all. Since we are talking an impossible and theoretical world, utopia would be perfect Natural Law Anarchism. In other words, there would be absolutely no rules or laws except natural morality, such as no murdering and raping. There would be no crime at all. Everybody would do the right thing because it was the right thing to do. Possession wise we are looking towards socialism, everything is shared by everyone yet personal space still exists. This is the house I live in, but it is not mine, but only I live in it. Pretty much a paradox.

Utopia cannot exist.

Everybody's idea of utopia is different. Some want God to be the ultimate final authority and some want man to. Some want the Bible to be the ultimate final authority and some want the Koran to. I believe that there is no such thing as utopia on this earth, it will take a new one, and lucky for me that is in my cards according to my beliefs.

Look up the Venus Project, that's pretty much my idea of an utopia, although not perfect, it's probably as close as humans could get.

No money, no military, no government. No alarm clocks, everyone has a natural sense of civic responsibility and does at least 51% of what they should do without having to be told. Everyone wants to be as efficient as possible.

No banks, or locks. No super rich, no poor. No one is overweight, there is no excess whatsoever. No alcohol or cigarettes, no drugs, not even the legal ones because they aren't needed. People are able to heal themselves. Every individual knows God and accepts that they alone are responsible for the free will gift they have received.

People surround themselves with beauty, flowers, and tend their own fruit trees and vegetable gardens. People know their neighbors as well as they know their own parents. No one is lost or isolated and no one is condenmed for being not as good at something. There are no jails or prisons because they aren't needed. Every person glorifies themselves by caring and working for others, not themselves.

Everyone is a vegetarian but they don't have to eat nearly as much as we do now. Everything used is recycled. Asphalt is turned to grass. People walk. There is poetry and plays in the park and friendly athletic competitions where no one really cares who wins.

This is our future, how far ahead is simply up to us.

utopia will continue to elude the world for as long as there is division among the nations, for as long as the world is divided by boarders, for as long as people try to control other people, for as long as the views about morality are all different, for as long selfishness exists and for as long as there are different religions and views on who God is.

Only God can solve these problems and he will do that. He has to, otherwise his purpose will not be reaslized and he will never allow that to happen.

Well, according to the book of Revelation the oceans will need to evaporate.

in the book of revelation, the oceans represent the people of the earth.

So in some way, yes. Any who refuse to live peacefully with their neighbor will most certainly need to evaporate.

Why do you think the oceans represent people?
It makes perfect sense to me that the literal oceans would evaporate.
Before the flood there were the waters above and the waters below, if the earth returns to a state of paradise it would make sense for the earth to return to a state like it was before the flood.
