How about the option of " Mistakes can be made when taking metaphors literally"

You have to be living under a rock not to be familiar with at least some of the violence in the Bible, just as you'd have to live under a rock not to know about the violence in the Iliad. Also you could have done much worse than these verses, the thought of the Israelites wishing ill on the Assyrian empire, a contemporary empire which has conquered and exiled entire nations is about as provocative as the early Christians considering Rome as a source of oppression and adversity. In other words, there is nothing too strange about it.Violence in Christianity and Judaism?
Let me ask you; are the Old laws part of the OT? Is OT part of the Bible? Who was the LORD in the OT? If jesus is God, he must able to travel to the past, present, and future. Christianity read the Bible. Not the torah. Judaism read the bible. Not the injeel. But they are all part of the bible.
Not sure....does anyone know?
What religion did Hitler practice?
How about this: Atheists like to bash religions and think Atheism or Secularism is more peaceful.
I actually agree.yes, if we want to see who has spilt the most blood, it certainly is not religious people.
I actually agree.
It is your god.
Please, explain the following passages:
Zephaniah 2:12-15
"You Ethiopians will also be slaughtered by my sword," says the LORD. And the LORD will strike the lands of the north with his fist. He will destroy Assyria and make its great capital, Nineveh, a desolate wasteland,
parched like a desert. The city that once
was so proud will become a pasture for sheep
and cattle. All sorts of wild animals will
settle there. Owls of many kinds will live
among the ruins of its palaces, hooting from the gaping windows. Rubble will block all the
doorways, and the cedar paneling will lie
open to the wind and weather. This is the
fate of that boisterous city, once so secure.
"In all the world there is no city as great as
I," it boasted. But now, look how it has become an utter ruin, a place where animals
live! Everyone passing that way will laugh in
derision or shake a defiant fist
Ezekiel 9:5-7
"Then I heard the LORD say to the other men, "Follow him through the city and kill everyone whose forehead is not marked. Show no mercy; have no pity! Kill them all old and young, girls and women and little children. But do not touch anyone with the mark. Begin your task right here at the
Temple." So they began by killing the
seventy leaders. "Defile the Temple!" the
LORD commanded. "Fill its courtyards with
the bodies of those you kill! Go!" So they
went throughout the city and did as they were told."
I believe these are statements of God's righteous judgements upon wicked people. Ezekiel chapter 9 relates God's judgment upon apostate Israelites who engaged in wickedness and false worship, as stated in Ezekiel chapter eight. Jehovah had repeatedly warned the Jews that their false worship would lead to disaster for themselves and their children. This prophecy had its fulfillment when the Babylonians destroyed Jerusalem and took the Jews into captivity in Babylon.
Do you define "innocent" as "someone who was not killed by god"?What about innocent blood?
Do you define "innocent" as "someone who was not killed by god"?
Then your question has nothing to do with god and therefore irrelevant to the point of gods killings.Someone killed by another human being that was not deserving, ie:genocide, murder, etc...
Since there is nothing natural about your god, your gods killings cannot be considered natural deaths.Do you consider killed by my God, what atheists consider natural deaths?
Exactly, context is everything.I believe these are statements of God's righteous judgements upon wicked people. Ezekiel chapter 9 relates God's judgment upon apostate Israelites who engaged in wickedness and false worship, as stated in Ezekiel chapter eight. Jehovah had repeatedly warned the Jews that their false worship would lead to disaster for themselves and their children.
