Trump

Hillary drools,
Trump rules!
"Make America great again for everyone!"
Except Trump has made it very clear and obvious that there are many groups that he doesn't give a damn about making America a great place for. At least with H. Clinton my civil rights and liberties won't be in jeopardy.

Shadow Wolf my friend, Donald Trump will protect the rights and liberties of all American citizens. Hillary Clinton only cares about what is politically expedient for her, she is the very embodiment of the most corrupt, money grubbing, political class -- she is the fraud!

That is blatantly false. He won't stand up to protect LBGT, immigrants, or Muslims. It's nothing but folly to pretend he'll protect the rights and liberties of all Americans because he has said otherwise. He says an American of Mexican descent is not a "real" American, he says the Supreme Court ruling legalizing same-sex marriage is not right, and you don't have to look to hard to find his venom being spewed at Muslims.

At least she won't trample on minorities like Trump.

If your a legal citizen of the US your rights will always be protected, if you are an illegal immigrant not working towards citizenship you should be questioned and watched over. And the American/Mexican judge in the "Trump University" case belongs to an organization that has contributed thousands of dollars to the Hillary Clinton campaign. A clear conflict of interest. Trump's "venom" against Muslims, well, I am not really anti any religion or philosophy but also I am not a big fan of either Christianity or Islam, so it doesn't bother me all that much. Oh, hell, I am sure Trump is against Satanists and Setians. Most people are, and I personally don't give a flying f***k! I will vote Trump on principle not religion or emotion.

Is that why homosexuals haven't been able to get married that long and having their right to get married protected may depend upon this next election? What about North Carolina? They are selective about telling people what bathrooms they can use and even explicitly stated that local cities and municipalities can't pass anti-discrimination laws.
Here, in the real world, being an American citizen doesn't mean your rights are currently protected. America has never promised equality, rights, protections, or liberties for all of its citizens, and still to this day it doesn't. Sure, it was established upon the idea that "all men are created equal," but in the practice was that "only white property owning men are created equal" and it's been an uphill battle for everybody else ever since to have their rights recognized and enforced under the law.

I live in the UK, but I'd say that watching Donald Trumps Poll numbers in the US is deeply disturbing. The Republican Presidential Primaries are between Feburary and July next year, so still quite a long way off still.
I read in the Guardian today that Salman Rushdie thinks Trump might be a "manchurian candidate" for Hilary to frighten everyone to vote Democrat. I think that's extremely nieve and complacent. it dismisses both the threat Trump poses and the constitency he represents. clearly he has support and will continue to have support for the months to come. his lead in the polls cannot be a "blip" either after the things he's come out with. That constitency won't dissappear even if Trump loses and will remain a continued threat to the American constitution and bill of rights. I am of the opinion that Trump could win in 2016 given the right circumstances and the polarisation of US politics in recent years. a major terrorist attack on US soil and the backlash to it could give him that extra bit of support by cliaming the current police state is inadequate, etc. There's less than a year before the election in 2016 and alot of things could happen which could push it either way.

So I want to ask my american counter-parts what options there are to make it that little bit harder for Trump to get the nomination. I feel uncomfortable telling myself to "wait and see", even on the otherside of the Atlantic. You're welcome to say I'm over reacting, but I'd feel better at least floating the idea for other people's consideration. If it was me, it doesn't seem like telling myself he'd lose is really enough. I'd want to make sure as best you can by being active in some form.
I have just decided, this day, to vote for Trump. It is not that I really like the guy, I'm simply voting against this:

If this is who opposes Trump, I'll vote for him.

Hey, it's been a while since I've been on this thread.

Dissaproving of that sort of violence and voting for Trump are not necessarily connected. Trump supporters should have the right to hold and express their beliefs. We tend to forget the importance of rights for those people with whom we disagree and tolerate only those groups we can relate to and empathise with and that is wrong. That doesn't make Trump right though. It would be wiser to Vote based on Trumps policies based on whether you think they will do any good (the same goes for Clinton) and not on picking a side (as tempting as that is nowadays as things get so polarised).

They are for me. It is a demonstration that those that say they think Trump is dangerous have within their ranks those that actually demonstrate being so.

Well, I strongly disagree with people on many issues. There are times when I feel very passionate about my political beliefs, and strongly oppose a candidate. It would never even cross my mind to show up at a rally to protest them, and surround them like wolves, chase them down, and attack them.

A few years ago I had started simply not voting for the lesser of two evils, and have been voting for Libertarian, or independent, candidates lately. I am changing that to vote for the lesser of two big evils, which in the case I think is Trump.

Aye, that's my position too.
Hillary is just too dangerous to allow in the White House.
So even a boor like Trump looks good.....relatively.
My apologies, Gary, you're the best person for the job, but you won't win.

Interesting....if violent anti-Trump types tried that around people I know,
there would be enthusiastic retaliation both in kind & in greater numbers.

I can't say I felt very enthusiastic about the thought of voting for Gary, but I was going to do it.

It looked to me like they were trying to incite violence on the part of the Trump supporters, since they were enacting violence upon them. It appeared to me to be organized, in the way they isolated and surrounded people. I wouldn't have blamed those people that were being attacked if they had responded with deadly force. I could see myself feeling like my life was threatened if I were in some of those situations.

I don't blame Hillary or the party for the violence.
But do think both The Donald & The Hildabreast inspire irrationally negative passions.

To be surrounded by young toughs bent on mayhem....I've been there.
It ended peacefully.....but with my hand visibly on my trust Glock #22.
Peace thru strength & civility.
It works.

Having just been through the hell of the UKs EU referendum and still reeling from the result, I can only sympathise with the appalling choice the American people will be presented with in November. I don't envy you at all and idealism is in short supply and we get some warped and pathological mutant instead. Our so called realism is slowly killing us. Eventually i'd like to vote for something on a basis other than the lesser evil. It wouldn't surprise me if Trump won as that would make sense given of the crisis of neoliberalism that is going on at the moment. All I could ask is that you make an informed choice. The rest of what I could say would be just empty partisanship.
